The push to create new fanatics of online casino play in another state is on. On Thursday, Fanatics Betting & Gaming migrated PointsBet’s online casino and sportsbook in Michigan to its own branded platform for the same types of gambling.

As a result, Fanatics has taken another step toward etching out a significant share of online casino revenue in the United States. You could argue that Michigan is the most vital pathway to joining the industry leaders.

Fanatics online casino and sportsbook now available for Michiganders

According to a news release from Fanatics, those in Michigan can download the Fanatics Sportsbook and Casino apps on their Android and iOS devices. From there, the process varies based on whether Michiganders were PointsBet customers.

Fanatics acquired PointsBet’s US operations last year and has been working to rebrand those products in various jurisdictions since. On Thursday, Michigan became part of that migration. The migration should be seamless for people in the state who had previously wagered with PointsBet.

Fanatics says that “each PointsBet customer’s username, password, account balance, rewards points, and responsible gaming settings will be automatically” switched over. Thus, for such people in Michigan, you should be able to simply download the app and sign in with your PointsBet credentials then start playing.

For Michiganders who never registered with PointsBet, signing up for Fanatics is essentially the same as any other online casino/sportsbook in Michigan. Just follow the registration prompts in the app and provide the requested information.

Fanatics now offers online sports betting under its banner in 13 states and Michigan becomes the third with access to Fanatics’ online casino product. It might be the most important of those three for Fanatics, though.

Michigan’s perch atop the nation

While the University of Michigan is the reigning national champion in FBS American football, Michigan currently leads the nation in another way. In 2023, Michigan was the most lucrative market for online casino revenue according to the American Gaming Association.

What’s more, the market has shown no signs of relinquishing that distinction in the early days of 2024. In fact, Michigan online casinos broke their single-month revenue record in January. Fanatics now has its online casino product live in two of the three most lucrative states for online casino win with New Jersey currently the exception.

That presence, along with having a competitive product, will be vital for Fanatics as it tries to wrestle market share away from more established brands like BetMGM Casino and Golden Nugget online casino. To that end, Fanatics has worked on its offerings.

Fanatics Casino not only offers an array of online slots but live dealer games from Evolution and some exclusive content like Fanatics Blackjack. In addition, it is the only brand that offers FanCash in its player rewards program. Michiganders can redeem that currency for perks on the app or experiences and merchandise through Fanatics’ other business interests.

Among choices for those rewards are some Wolverines national championship swag. Fanatics hopes to similarly become the champion when it comes to Michigan online casino revenue.
