In a bid to promote responsible gaming, FanDuel announced on Wednesday that it struck a partnership with Operation HOPE, a financial education and empowerment non-profit organization.
Operation HOPE, which has been around since 1992, uses different strategic means to provide economic opportunities for millions of people, including youths, adults, and communities. It transforms the business aspirations of individuals, facilitates the transition from renters to homeowners, and targets poverty elimination.
Primarily, the organization offers financial counseling to individuals and occasionally equips them with essential tools. “Operation HOPE’s work has demonstrated that when individuals have a strong foundation of financial literacy, they are better equipped to manage their spending responsibly,” said Christian Genetski, president of FanDuel, in a press release.
Financial literacy programs coming to Massachusetts
FanDuel, as an online casino and sports betting operator, is aware that it deals with a huge chunk of people’s finances, directly or indirectly. As such, it has devised a means by which it can curb reckless spending by individuals as a result of problem gambling.
Through this partnership, Operation HOPE will offer free financial counseling to residents of Massachusetts. With these gamblers, they will be more enlightened on personal financial literacy and, in turn, practice safe gambling. Genetski continued:
“FanDuel is committed to giving back to the communities in which we operate, and we believe that supporting proven financial literacy programs is a natural extension of our work to promote and empower responsible gaming. Partnering with Operation HOPE, a leader in the space, to help fund critical financial literacy education and provide access to financial counseling in communities across Massachusetts is the latest evolution in FanDuel’s efforts.”
Operation HOPE to introduce its ‘HOPE Inside’ initiative
Operation HOPE will roll out its HOPE Inside program in this venture, ensuring Bay Staters gain valuable access to Financial Wellbeing Coaches. These expert coaches will be dedicated to delivering both virtual and face-to-face financial health sessions throughout the state, all completely free of charge.
These coaches will empower individuals with the essential financial know-how and practical tools necessary for building a stable and secure future. Their guidance includes a range of strategies, from cultivating savings and enhancing FICO (credit) scores to effectively reducing debt burdens.
Also, Operation HOPE’s coaches will extend their expertise to counsel participants on optimal methods for managing entertainment expenditures. The overarching goal is to equip Massachusetts residents with the knowledge and skills to enhance their credit scores and foster savings.
President & CFO of Operation HOPE, Brian Betts said:
“HOPE Inside is designed to equip clients with the tools and resources required to make informed decisions about their finances. Through this partnership with FanDuel, we can help empower those who want to learn how to take control of their finances, which can ultimately lead to less stress and a higher quality of life.”
Both parties have also agreed to launch a campaign centered around financial literacy, shedding light on the HOPE Inside program’s accessibility in Massachusetts. A national advertisement that will air on the social media platforms of both FanDuel and Operation HOPE intends to amplify the reach of financial literacy education on a nationwide scale.
This campaign will go beyond just digital platforms, extending its influence across various mediums such as digital out-of-home advertising, radio, and targeted paid social content.
In other news, FanDuel started the year on a charitable note, as earlier this week, it pledged $1 million to the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), a foundation that aids college students on their path to graduation.
The donation from FanDuel will benefit 10 students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in Ohio. However, this is not FanDuel’s first contribution, as they have previously supported UNCF students in Virginia and Maryland.
