FanDuel, the leader in US sports betting, is making it even harder for its competitors to catch up.
For example, the company has expanded its relationship with data firm Genius Sports Limited to offer Genius’ BetVision, which overlays stats and sports betting data onto live streams.
FanDuel CCO Mike Raffensperger said bringing BetVision into the FanDuel app will elevate users’ experience. Raffensperger said in a Genius Sports press release:
“We’re continuing to look for ways to elevate the betting experience on our platform for fans during every game. Partnering with Genius will allow us to pair our industry-leading product with access to BetVision to build a seamless live betting experience for fans.”
FanDuel will roll out BetVision in two phases
BetVision allows sportsbooks to provide a live stream that includes stats, betting lines, and the option to bet directly from the stream. Genius Sports launched the product in September.
In theory, this type of innovation will deepen bettors’ interest in FanDuel’s online sportsbook. “Since launching in September, BetVision has been shown to increase in-game wagers, customer engagement and drive retention while providing sportsbook customers with unique personalization options,” the company noted.
However, FanDuel won’t offer live odds and sports betting options at first. For now, users will be able to see live stat tracking, which can help track prop bets already made.
Genius Sports said that betting lines and betting from the stream are features that will be available in the future. “We are proud to lead a new era of sports betting experiences across North America,” Genius Sports CEO Mark Locke said.
“With heightened demand for greater personalization and interactivity, BetVision revolutionizes the live betting experience for FanDuel’s customers by helping to drive fan engagement and accelerate the growth of in-game betting.”
Big sports betting operators are signing Genius Sports
While FanDuel is certainly the Genius’ most prestigious sports betting partnership, it’s not the only one it has.
In September, the company launched BetVision in the US market through Caesars Sportsbook and Fanatics Sportsbook. Should BetVision deliver on its promises, it’s likely we’ll see more prominent sports betting operators partner with Genius.
