A new licensing deal for Light & Wonder is a golden-ticket moment for slot games.
The gaming giant announced it released its land-based Willy Wonka: World of Wonka slot game on online platforms in Europe and the UK thanks to a multi-year licensing deal with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Themed Entertainment.
On Wednesday, Light & Wonder released the game to online casinos in Europe and the UK. While the statement about the game didn’t include a timeline for a US launch, we could see the game go live here within the next few months.
Vice President of Game Development Rob Procter said in a Light & Wonder news release that the online version of World of Wonka will deliver the same enjoyment that’s made the casino version of the game so popular:
“Willy Wonka: World of Wonka is a casino-floor favorite that has achieved legendary status in the United States and beyond. Our in-house teams have done a fantastic job packing this new digital version with all of the fun of the original.”
A look at the World of Wonka slot games
Light & Wonder released World of Wonka in 2016 when the company was named Scientific Games. The game debuted at Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City.
At the time, a Borgata rep said the game offered an “eye-catching display” that gave players a “uniquely magical experience.” The current version of the game features the same vibrant imagery and soundtrack that made the game popular in US casinos.
Additionally, the mobile and online versions of the game will provide players with multiple ways to win big:
- A Wonka Wheel that awards players free spins, bonuses, bet multipliers, and credits
- A Golden Ticket bonus that offers up to a 500x win
- An Oompa Loomp variation that adds more reels and pay lines
Light & Wonder is brimming with confidence about World of Wonka. Procter is confident that customers across the pond will love the real-money online slot game.
