Key takeaways
- Delaware online casino win represented a month-over-month decline but a year-over-year increase

- Two of the three Delaware online casinos showed a monthly decline in win for May
- Recent legislation challenges Rush Street Interactive’s (RSI) online gambling monopoly in Delaware
May Delaware online casino win drops from April, goes below $4 million
Delaware’s online casino win during the 31 days of May represents a 12.2% month-over-month decrease from DE’s April 2024 gaming revenue of $4.4 million. On the bright side, May 2024 win is up 216% year-over-year.
Delaware’s iGaming sector started 2024 strong, showing a monthly increase in win for three consecutive months. Here’s how the numbers have changed since the beginning of the year:
- January: $3,408,944 (a 192.2% monthly uptick)
- February: $3,869,853 (a 13.5% monthly rise)
- March: $4,631,369 (a 19.7% increase)
- April: $4,438,542 (a 4.2% monthly decrease)
- May: $3,896,433 (a 12.2% drop)
Delaware Park remains on top and shows monthly progress
Delaware Park Casino remains the leader in win earned from online slots and table games. The Delaware Lottery’s May 2024 gaming revenue report shows two of the three DE online casinos stated decline from April:
- Delaware Park: $2,271,888 (an increase from April’s $2,000,093)
- Bally’s Dover: $776,191 (a drop from $1,040,439)
- Harrington Casino & Raceway: $848,354 (a decline from $1,398,010 reached in April)
All three casinos showed significant improvement from May 2023.
In the summer of 2023, the Delaware Lottery announced changing online casino operators from 888 Holdings to Rush Street Interactive’s BetRivers. The transition happened soon after, with BetRivers going live at the end of December.
HB365 could change Delaware’s online gaming landscape
The future of online gambling in Delaware could be very different if HB365 becomes law.
The legislation aims to open the online sports betting market to multiple operators in the state. This would effectively end BetRivers’ single-operator status in terms of sports wagering, which it currently has a contract for through 2028.
Should the bill become law, the Delaware Lottery could license up to six sports betting operators. HB365 would permit the state’s three “video lottery agents” to partner with up to two mobile sportsbook operators. If DraftKings and FanDuel enter the state, they could easily dominate the market.
Rhode Island is the only other US state in which online casino play is legal that has a single online casino operator, Bally’s. Bally’s has a strong local link as it is headquartered in Rhode Island and Bally’s operates the two brick-and-mortar casinos in the state as well.
Delaware and RSI’s BetRivers don’t have such strong connection. Proponents of expanding the market for online sports betting argue that the state is leaving money on the table by having just one operator.
