Rhode Island online casino market needs more time to mature
Rhode Island, the newest market with the smallest population, is the seventh US iGaming state. Other legal online casino states are New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan, West Virginia, Connecticut and Delaware.
Gov. Daniel McKee passed the legislation in June 2023, but it took eight months for Bally Casino to go live. On March 5, Bally’s (NYSE: BALY) launched as the sole online casino operator in the Ocean State. The gambling giant also operates two land-based casinos in Rhode Island:
- Bally’s Twin River Lincoln
- Bally’s Tiverton
Like in two previous months, May revenue numbers make Rhode Island the smallest online casino market in the US. One reason is operators’ low interest and effort, considering the state’s limited market size.
Here’s how RI online casino revenue in May compares to other iGaming states:
State | May online casino revenue | Population (according to 2023 Census Bureau data) | Per-capita revenue | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
