MGM Resorts partnered with Playtech to offer live casino content to iGaming industry operators, including those in regulated markets outside the US.

The live casino content, branded as “MGM Live,” will stream directly from the gaming floors of two of MGM Resorts’ most iconic Las Vegas Strip properties:

  • MGM Grand
  • Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas

Key takeaways

  • The “MGM Live” content will be available for licensing and not exclusive to Borgata and BetMGM online casinos.
  • Mexico and the UK will be the initial target markets for “MGM Live.”
  • This collaboration might increase Playtech’s share of the live dealer distribution market, which, by all indicators, is where Evolution dominates in the US.

Mexico and the UK to be the first markets to enjoy the “MGM Live” content

As the company emphasized in the press release, the content will be available for licensing and not exclusive to BetMGM or Borgata online casinos.

Marc Jacobson, Corporate Media Relations Sr. Mgr/Content Creator at MGM Resorts, told PlayUSA:

“Right now, this is intended for international markets. The UK and Mexico would be the first targeted markets.”

The games’ launch in additional regulated markets will follow.

MGM Resorts and Playtech to provide “unmatched” gaming experience in the industry

The companies’ press release states that live casino offerings will include single and double-zero roulette and baccarat games.

As the partnership evolves, the aim is to broaden the collection with exclusive access to

  • A variety of Playtech games
  • Branded TV game shows
  • Celebrity-hosted trivia shows
  • The entertainment experiences that Las Vegas and MGM Resorts are famous for.

Bill Hornbuckle, Chief Executive Officer & President of MGM Resorts, said the partnership furthers the operator’s “strategic vision” to be the world’s premier gaming entertainment company. Hornbuckle said in the MGM Resorts press release:

“This collaboration amplifies our commitment to providing unparalleled experiences and expands our global reach to our customers. We believe the content, celebrity talent and sophisticated gaming experience that we will offer – all from the trusted and highly reputable brands of MGM Resorts – will be unmatched in the industry.”

Speaking at a JP Morgan conference in March, Hornbuckle explained the importance of live dealer content to BetMGM’s future, and this partnership is just the company’s next logical and diligent step.

Playtech honored to be selected as MGM Resorts’ technology partner

As MGM Resorts’ technology partner, Playtech will offer players on-demand, online access to a combination of immersive entertainment experiences directly from two of the industry’s exclusive brands.

Mor Weizer, Chief Executive Officer at Playtech, said the software supplier is thrilled to partner with MGM Resorts:

“This alliance combines the strength of MGM Resorts’ global prestige with Playtech’s extensive international market knowledge and innovative games.”

“As a leading technology provider in regulated markets, we are delighted that this partnership is pioneering a new live entertainment category and product offering for players in these regulated territories. Our alliance is built on a shared vision to create an innovative and unique customer experience alongside our commitment to safer gambling.”

As Weizer also emphasized, both companies are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of player protection, ensuring their offerings are enjoyed responsibly.

Playtech increases its share of the live dealer distribution market

Playtech studios offer a cutting-edge platform powered by data-driven technology and feature a dynamic user interface. It allows online casinos with Playtech content to offer players a personalized gaming experience without leaving their homes.

Playtech partners with and invests in the leading gambling brands in regulated and newly regulated markets to deliver its data-driven technology across the retail and online verticals.

Out of 11 studios worldwide, Playtech has three live studios in the United States – Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Jonathan Doubilet, VP Operations, US at Playtech, told PlayUSA in an interview last year: “The US remains a priority for us, and we constantly seek opportunities to expand in the US market.”

As Playtech grows its reach, it may soon rival a US-leading software supplier, Evolution, which has brought years of experience from the EU market. Many indicators show that Evolution has been America’s No. 1 live casino game supplier, but that could change someday.
