MONOPOLY Casino is the newest brand in the New Jersey online casino market, taking over operations for the small but longstanding Virgin Casino brand. Like Virgin, it will operate as a secondary brand for Bally’s, which acquired the online casino as part of its purchase of GameSys in 2021.

Existing Virgin customers will find their accounts have been migrated seamlessly to the new brand. The MONOPOLY Casino app is available for download from Google Play or the App Store.

The motivation behind this change remains unclear. Albeit, when a company in the gaming industry takes such steps, it is usually part of a marketing strategy and means to reinvent, retain, and attract new customers. Bally’s (NYSE: BALY) may believe that Virgin was too generic for a small brand and that a specialized niche product will perform better.

New Jersey is no doubt the ideal state to put in this effort, espeically given that it is the hub of iGaming. A hub indeed, as showcased in progressive year-over-year revenue growth for NJ’s online casinos.

The MONOPOLY Casino is a historical casino, being among the first casinos to spring out of the Garden State.

Virgin first launched in partnership with Tropicana Atlantic City in the early days of the New Jersey market, over a decade ago. It migrated to the Bally’s license after the acquisiton.

Bally’s ensures a seamless transition for new online casino product

In preparation for the rebranding, Virgin Casino informed users of a scheduled downtime earlier this week, designed to ease their migration to the MONOPOLY Casino.

“Just a heads up, we will be temporarily offline on the evening of Tuesday, November 5th, until the afternoon of Wednesday, November 6th, as we prepare for the switchover from Virgin Casino to Monopoly Casino,” the email read.

The rebranding will not come with any hassle for customers, as they can seamlessly transition to the new online casino, using their previous credentials from Virgin Casino to log into the MONOPOLY Casino. With that, they have the opportunities that come with the rebranded online casino.

What should players expect from MONOPOLY Casino in New Jersey?

Some of these perks include Virgin Casino users having access to enjoy:

  • MONOPOLY slot games
  • Special MONOPOLY reward
  • MONOPOLY VIP program
  • Free Parking Picks

Despite still offering its usual table games and online slots, the MONOPOLY Casino comes with a few tweaks from the previous one, such as a color theme and a new casino logo. Although, the backend of the app will remain untouched.

In the app, players can also expect to see a handful of MONOPOLY theme slots in a separate section; these include:

  • Epic MONOPOLY II
  • MONOPOLY Megaways
  • MONOPOLY Big Event
  • MONOPOLY Mega Movers
  • MONOPOLY: Money in Hand
  • MONOPOLY: Paradise Mansion
  • MONOPOLY: Rising Riches

At the time of this writing, the casino’s website has not replaced the casino name yet.

While players wait for this change to happen, as of yesterday, they can download the application with an Android or iOS device.

New Jersey online casino market sits with good prospects

Currently, New Jersey has over 40 licensed online casinos. And, with the heightened patronage of gambling in the state former New Jersey Regulator David Rebuck is calling for tightening its gambling scene to promote responsible gambling.

He proposes that on the national level they implement a gambling minimum age of 21 years of age.

Meanwhile, the Garden State has still been in a position of raking in revenue. NJ’s September 2024 revenue for online casinos marked a milestone as it was the first month with over $200 million in revenue.
