There’s finally some good news about New Hampshire sports betting handle.

Recent data from the New Hampshire Lottery revealed that the amount of money gambled on sports rose month-on-month, for the first time since March stopping a four-month slide.

NH sports betting handle up nearly $2M in August

This past month, New Hampshire sports betting handle rose from $36.9 million in July to $38.8 million. However, gross gaming revenue (GGR) fell from $3.5 million to $3.3 million, marking the third straight month GGR was down.

According to the NH Lottery’s August report, the GGR drop follows the same trend in 2022. Last year GGR fell around $300,000 from July to August.

What’s ahead for New Hampshire sports betting revenue?

If 2022 is any indication, sports betting handle and GGR should see a significant increase in September thanks to the start of the NFL season.

Handle languished around $43 million in July and August 2022 before skyrocketing to $78.2 million in September and $91.3 million in November.

The handle is tracking about $6 million less per month this fiscal year than last year. So we’ll likely see the handle hit the low $70 million range in September and climb to the mid-to-high $80 million range in October.

GGR can be harder to predict, but based on 2022 trends, it’s likely we’ll see numbers approach $7 million in September and $8 million in October.
