Hollywood Gaming Dayton Raceway announced this week its Barstool Sportsbook will open in January.
The casino told local media that construction would conclude “early next year” but that bettors will be able to place wagers when Ohio sports betting goes live January 1.
Dayton sportsbook adds new amenities
Penn Entertainment, the parent company of Hollywood-branded casinos, owns Bartsool Sportsbook. As a result, many of its Hollywood Casino properties have Barstool-themed restaurants and sportsbooks.
So, it’s no surprise that Barstool Sportsbook announcements are popping up at Hollywood properties in Ohio.
The Dayton location will offer standard services. The casino said in an announcement that it will offer a betting counter and betting kiosks.
Additionally, the book will include the following amenities:
- Seating for up to 130 guests
- Full-service bar
- Restaurant
- A 34-foot-wide viewing screen above the bar
Bettors can go to the Hollywood Dayton website and sign up for notifications about Barstool Sportsbook announcements and other news.
Hollywood-Sportsbook partnership continues to grow in Ohio
This past month, Penn noted in its third-quarter earnings call that it has plans to build a new hotel at its Hollywood Columbus location.
In addition to the Dayton and Columbus properties, Hollywood has casinos in Mahoning and Toledo. All four Ohio casinos have Barstool Sportsbooks that are slated to open in January.
Penn improves Hollywood properties across the country
This past month, Maryland’s Hollywood Casino Perryville opened a Barstool Restaurant. The location has separate areas for eating and betting, making it a family-friendly location.
Indiana’s Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg recently finished an expansion of its Barstool Sportsbook. The facility now includes five blackjack tables, more than 50 slot machines, more betting kiosks, and more than 60 high-definition TVs.
How to bet when Ohio sports betting goes live in January
Ohioans have several different ways to place bets when sports betting launches on Jan. 1, 2023:
- Hollywood casino Barstool sportsbooks and other retail books in the state
- Sports betting kiosks located at hundreds of lottery retailers across the state
- Mobile and online sports betting apps
Bettors must be at least 21 years old to bet on a sporting event.
To place a bet, Ohioans must provide personal information the sports betting operator will use to verify the bettor’s identity. In many cases, the process takes seconds. Once verified, bettors can wager on a variety of sporting events using multiple types of bets.
The types of wagers that bettors can make depends on where they place a bet. For example, kiosks only allow parlays and spread, over-under, and moneyline wagers. Casino sportsbooks typically offer the same options Ohio kiosks will, with the addition of prop bets, which, generally speaking, are bets on specific performances not tied to the outcome of a game.
For example, a bettor could place a wager at Hollywood Dayton’s Barstool Sportsbook on the number of touchdowns Joe Burrow will throw in a game.
In many cases, online sports betting operators will offer sign-up bonuses for new Ohio customers who sign up for a sports betting app before January 1.
