BetMGM announced Nov. 13, 2025, that it has entered a multiyear agreement with the Pittsburgh Penguins to become the team’s official sports betting and online casino partner. The leading sports-betting and iGaming operator now holds official partnerships with all three major professional sports teams in Pittsburgh.
Commenting on the partnership, BetMGM Casino Chief Marketing Officer Casey Hurbis said,
“Pittsburgh is home to some of the most iconic sports franchises. This latest collaboration with the Penguins builds on our deep ties across the city and opens new opportunities to engage fans through unforgettable experiences at PPG Paints Arena and beyond.”
Pittsburgh Penguins Senior Vice President of Partnerships Steve Kelley said, “The Penguins are proud to welcome BetMGM as an official sports-betting partner. BetMGM is an established leader, and this partnership furthers our organizational commitment to enhancing the gameday experience for the most passionate fan base in the National Hockey League.”
Key elements of the agreement include:
- Prominent BetMGM branding and signage throughout PPG Paints Arena.
- Co-branded social-media content.
- Exclusive promotions.
- Premium hospitality assets for VIP fan experiences.
Additionally, BetMGM is working on launching Penguins-themed iGaming products in the near future.
BetMGM reaffirms commitment to responsible gaming
In its press release, BetMGM reaffirmed its commitment to responsible gaming even as it introduces new features and expands into new markets. To this end, it provides resources such as GameSense, an industry-leading program developed by the British Columbia Lottery Corporation and licensed to MGM Resorts International.
BetMGM has recently made several strategic moves to expand its reach. For example, it became the first Pennsylvania poker operator to network players with opponents in other states after the governor signed the multistate internet-gaming deal in April. It has also partnered with Relax Gaming, Play’n GO and Bragg Gaming to expand its online gaming content library in Pennsylvania.
PA sports betting tax battle adds pressure to market
The deal comes at a time when the Sports Betting Alliance (SBA) — of which BetMGM is a member — is actively opposing proposed tax hikes on online sports betting and casino revenue in Pennsylvania, warning that higher taxes could undermine the growth of the legal online gambling industry.
In light of that broader pushback, BetMGM’s expansion into major team partnerships may signal confidence in navigating regulatory headwinds while continuing to build its brand in key US markets.
