State of Play’s TL;DR
- Delta and DraftKings have launched SkyPicks.
- SkyPicks is a free in-flight sports prediction contest.
DraftKings Sportsbook and Delta have launched SkyPicks, a free in-flight sports prediction contest for eligible passengers age 21 and older on US domestic Delta flights with Wi-Fi.
The product is not a betting app or real-money wagering option. There are no deposits, buy-ins, miles, or other financial risk involved. Instead, eligible SkyMiles members can submit picks through Delta’s Wi-Fi service on their own phones, tablets, or laptops and compete for Delta gift cards.
SkyPicks went live July 29 and debuted with MLB contests. DraftKings and Delta said NFL matchups are planned to be added later this year.
Actual prize amounts not disclosed
To play, passengers must sign in with an existing DraftKings account or create a new one. Contest prompts include questions such as who will score first, which team will win, and a final-score tiebreaker.
The game is not available on seatback screens.
Jeremy Elbaum, chief commercial officer at DraftKings, said the company sees the partnership as a way to extend sports engagement beyond the game itself. Delta Chief Marketing and Product Officer Ranjan Goswami described it as another free-to-play entertainment option for SkyMiles members interested in sports while they fly.
The key takeaway is that this is an adjacent product launch rather than an expansion of sportsbook wagering. The offering is framed as a free prediction game tied to in-flight entertainment, not as a gambling product.
What remains unclear from the announcement is what prize values will be attached to the Delta gift cards.
