State of Play’s TL;DR
- Ember Casino launched three months ago in New Jersey.
- Since coming online, the company says it is focused on brand awareness, loyalty, personalization, and responsible gambling as it grows.
Ember Casino says its first few months in New Jersey are focused on a simple challenge in a crowded market: get noticed, then give players a reason to come back.
The brand, which launched in early June, is pairing marketing with loyalty tools, game expansion, and responsible gambling messaging as it tries to carve out space in a competitive market.
Ember is currently live only in the New Jersey online casino market. Through the first seven months of 2026, New Jersey operators produced $1.87 billion in online casino revenue, up 14.5% year over year, according to figures cited by Deadspin.
Ember accounted for $648,862 in revenue in that span.
Ember says retention matters as much as awareness
Lee Terfloth, chief interactive gaming officer at Ember Entertainment, told Deadspin that brand building is only part of the job after launch.
“But awareness is only one piece of the equation. Once someone comes through the door, the experience has to give them a reason to come back.”
He said Ember is investing in its game library, technology, loyalty, and personalized engagement rather than trying to be “simply another brand competing for attention in New Jersey.”
The operator now offers more than 1,100 games.
Terfloth also pointed to Ember’s partnership with Captain Up, an engagement and loyalty platform. He said the tools can support missions, tournaments, progression, rewards, and more personalized experiences based on player behavior.
Personalization and RG are part of the pitch
Captain Up CEO Uri Admon said the platform is designed to help operators move beyond standard bonus offers with interactive missions, tournaments, and adaptive rewards.
Terfloth also framed personalization as something that should sit inside a regulated, player-protection-first environment.
“Personalization isn’t about encouraging someone to play more than they should. It’s about making the experience more relevant to the individual while operating within the protections and requirements of a highly regulated market.”
Ember’s site includes dedicated patron protection and responsible gambling sections, and links to the National Council on Problem Gambling and the Council on Compulsive Gambling of New Jersey.
Deadspin reported that New Jersey has 30 online casino operators, with Ember among three newer entrants.
