Leading sportsbooks and online casino operator FanDuel has announced it will expand its presence in West Virginia through a new partnership with Delaware North’s Mardi Gras Casino & Resort.
“We love working with FanDuel and are very proud to be partnered together in West Virginia,” Delaware North Chief Interactive Gaming Officer Lee Terfloth said in a statement.
“This partnership represents the best of what Delaware North strives for, bringing trusted, innovative experiences to our customers – and FanDuel is an incredible ally in that mission.”
FanDuel has offered mobile sports betting in the Mountain State since 2019 through a partnership with The Greenbrier Resort. Mardi Gras currently partners with Betly for online sports betting and online casino games.
FanDuel’s role in boosting Mardi Gras Casino’s online revenue
FanDuel’s brand recognition and success in other states could translate to a boost in revenue for Mardi Gras, which has struggled to gain traction in its online gaming operations. For example, it was the only casino to generate less than $1 million in online gambling win this past month:
The Greenbrier | Charles Town | Mountaineer | Mardi Gras | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Week 1 | $3,344,915.59 | $2,580,373.84 | $1,244,078.90 | $146,520.43 |
Week 2 | $3,770,545.70 | $2,460,062.23 | $1,330,814.79 | $91,515.60 |
Week 3 | $3,244,674.54 | $2,306,033.79 | $1,388,083.99 | $143,740.84 |
Week 4 | $3,298,248.34 | $2,276,437.52 | $1,442,432.18 | $138,343.64 |
Week 5 | $4,083,136.25 | $2,567,280.00 | $1,404,758.22 | $180,575.35 |
Total August revenue | $17,741,520.42 | $12,190,187.38 | $6,810,168.08 | $700,695.86 |
If FanDuel were able to boost Mardi Gras’ revenue by 25%, August revenue totals would have looked like this:
- Greenbrier: $19,515,672.46
- Charles Town: $12,190,187.38
- Mountaineer: $6,810,168.08
- Mardi Gras: $875,869.83
As FanDuel sharpens its customer acquisition strategy in the Mountain State, Mardi Gras’ monthly online gaming revenue could surpass $1 million by early 2026.
“Delaware North has been a respected name in gaming and hospitality for decades, and they are an ideal partner as we continue to operate in West Virginia,” said Jonathan Edson in a press release, FanDuel‘s senior vice president of business development.
Could FanDuel push WV online casinos toward $250 million?
While Mardi Gras’ totals account for just a fraction of West Virginia’s overall online gaming revenue, any boost will help the state’s real-money online casinos and sportsbooks move closer to a milestone: $250 million in yearly revenue.
West Virginia’s online casinos generated $190.8 million in fiscal year 2024, up more than $51 million from fiscal 2023. Although the state’s fiscal 2025 numbers have yet to be published, online gaming revenue will likely surpass $200 million, putting West Virginia on track to exceed the $250 million mark in fiscal 2026.
