  • The winner took $14.3 million in cash before taxes.

A Lake Jackson resident has claimed the Lotto Texas jackpot after matching all six numbers in the Aug. 10 drawing.

The jackpot carried an estimated annuitized value of $26.75 million. The winner chose the cash-value option and received $14,303,717.61 before taxes.

The winning ticket was a Quick Pick purchased at Murphy USA, 1803 N. Velasco Street in Angleton. The retailer is set to receive a $25,000 bonus for selling the jackpot ticket.

Winner says they checked the numbers manually

The winner said they realized the ticket was a jackpot winner after checking the numbers themselves because the results were not yet showing in the Texas Lottery app.

“When I checked the numbers myself and got down to the last line, I realized what I had and I couldn’t believe it.”

The winner’s name was not disclosed. The person is reportedly working with a financial adviser, lawyer, and CPA to manage the payout responsibly. The stated plans include paying off debts and helping family.

The winner also offered a more immediate spending plan:

“I want to be as responsible as possible. But first, I’m going to get a steak and pair of boots.”

Lotto Texas had gone 48 straight drawings without a jackpot winner before the Aug. 10 drawing.
