A Massachusetts Lottery player has claimed a $500,000 top prize on a $500,000 Frenzy scratch ticket. The winning ticket was sold in Leominster. The retailer received a $5,000 selling bonus.
Angela Tarr won the prize on Sept. 18, according to the Massachusetts Lottery. She claimed the win as a one-time payment, bringing the pre-tax amount to $355,000.
Leominster store sold the winning $50 scratch ticket
The winning ticket was sold at Family Farms, 202 Merriam Ave., in Leominster. Because it sold the top-prize ticket, the store received a bonus equal to 1% of the prize, or $5,000.
The game was $500,000 Frenzy, a $50 scratch-off that launched on May 12. The Massachusetts Lottery says the game started with 50 top prizes of $500,000 each.
35 top prizes remain
At the time of the report, 15 top prizes in the $500,000 Frenzy had already been claimed, leaving 35 still available. The overall odds of winning any prize in the game are listed at 1 in 3.78.
Patricia Markland previously won the same $500,000 top prize on July 6 and also chose the one-time payment option.
Separate from Tarr’s win, the Massachusetts Lottery said its Thursday draw produced at least 1,125 prizes worth $600 or more.
For lottery players tracking remaining prizes, that leaves a sizable number of top tickets still out in the market, even after multiple $500,000 claims.
