State of Play’s TL;DR

  • Riverside Resort and Casino Inc. and Riverside Resort and Casino LLC agreed to pay at least $1.5 million to settle a data breach class action.
  • Eligible Riverside Resort and Casino class members have until Jan. 4 to submit claims for settlement benefits.

Riverside Resort and Casino Inc. and Riverside Resort and Casino LLC have agreed to a class action settlement worth at least $1.5 million over a July 2024 data breach, according to Claim Depot.

The cybersecurity incident affected 51,646 people.

The settlement offers eligible individuals reimbursement for breach-related losses, an alternate cash payment, and financial monitoring. A final court approval hearing is scheduled for Jan. 27.

Who qualifies for the Riverside settlement?

The class action includes US residents who received a notification from Riverside Resort and Casino stating that the July 2024 breach compromised their private information.

Current and former employees, along with other individuals who received notices, may qualify.

The lawsuit alleged that a targeted cyberattack exposed sensitive information, including names, addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, driver’s license and government-issued identification numbers, financial account details, and medical and health insurance information.

Cash benefits include up to $3,000 for losses

Eligible class members can seek reimbursement of up to $3,000 for documented out-of-pocket losses related to the breach. They can also claim up to three hours of lost time at $20 per hour, with that maximum $60 included within the reimbursement cap.

Those who do not claim losses or lost time can instead seek an alternate cash payment estimated at $75 for California residents and $50 for residents of other states.

Total cash payments to approved claimants are capped at $1 million. If approved claims exceed that amount, payments will be reduced proportionally.

All class members can also claim one free year of CyEx Financial Shield Total, which includes monitoring and $1 million in financial fraud insurance.

How to file a claim and key deadlines

Claims can be submitted online or through a printed PDF claim form sent by mail or email.

Class members who want to opt out of the settlement have until Dec. 4, 2026, to do so.
