Five casino restaurant workers at Thunder Valley Casino Resort near Lincoln were stabbed Wednesday evening.
Authorities said the suspect, restaurant worker Joseph Benedict John Naugle, 22, was detained within minutes.
According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 7 p.m. to a report of a possible stabbing at Dos Coyotes Border Cafe inside the casino. One victim was taken to a hospital, while four others were treated at the scene by Thunder Valley Casino EMTs and Cal Fire. Authorities said all reported injuries were not life-threatening, though the status of the worker sent to the hospital still remains unknown.

Officials also said there was no threat to the public following the incident.
Based on the information released Wednesday night, the incident appeared to be confined to the people involved rather than a broader public-safety threat inside the resort. Sheriff’s detectives remained at the casino investigating.
Naugle is reportedly being held at South Placer Jail in Roseville on two counts of attempted murder in connection with the attack, according to the Sacramento Bee. Sheriff’s officials said more charges are pending.
Authorities said the stabbings took place in the kitchen, away from the front of the restaurant or casino.
Thunder Valley Casino Resort is one of the top gaming destinations in the Sacramento region.
