Talarico told voters:

The campaign has also drawn attention for donations tied to GOP megadonor Miriam Adelson given through a bipartisan PAC backing casino legalization – contributions Talarico says he supported because he favors legalizing casinos regardless of who funds the effort.

This race matters because Texas is the largest US state without legalized commercial casinos or statewide sports betting.
A successful push toward casino legalization – supported by a bipartisan PAC tied to Adelson money – could unlock a massive new market for operators and affiliates, reshaping licensing, tax regimes, and advertising opportunities.
Operators will watch whether Democrats like Talarico, who has signaled support for casinos, can influence public referendums or legislation. At the same time, a messy GOP primary (with contenders such as Ken Paxton and Wesley Hunt) could produce a controversial nominee and change November dynamics; that outcome might alter which party controls the state’s policy agenda and the speed of any gambling reforms.
