Scientific Games will increase its four-year contract with the lottery for another two years, according to a news release.
The Scientific Games Enhanced Partnership with the Ohio Lottery began in 2019. The partnership optimizes the Scratch-off products through:
- Portfolio management
- Game design services
- Data-driven analytics
- Logistics
- Licensed brand services
- Retail sales
- Marketing
The company facilitates all Ohio operations near the lottery headquarters in Cleveland.
SCiQ technology available to more than 800 Ohio convenience stores
Scientific Games deployed its SCiQ retail ecosystem at more than 800 Ohio convenience stores. It allowed two large convenience stores, like Circle K and Speedway, to sell Ohio Lottery products in-store.
SCiQ improves Scratch-Off inventory management with real-time data being delivered to the appropriate firms.
John Schulz, Scientific Game president of Americas and Global Instant Products, said in the release:
“Ohio was also one of the first lotteries to launch our breakthrough SCiQ ecosystem at retail, which is the first technology of its kind to help retailers fully manage the lottery category in-store.”
Sales growing from $1.6B to $2.3B in four years
While operating under the Scientific Games Enhanced Partnership, Ohio Lottery Scratch-Off sales grew from $1.6 billion in FY 2019 to more than $2.3 billion in FY 2023.
During the same time, the Ohio Lottery also reported an 8.8% compound annual growth rate compared to an average 5% CAGR for the top 10 US lotteries (weekly per capita sales FY 2019 to FY 2023).
Schulz said: “We thank the Ohio Lottery for having the vision to partner with us on instant games to optimize the product portfolio and generate maximum revenues for education.”
Scientific Games renewed contracts in North Carolina and Georgia
Certified by the World Lottery Association, Scientific Games’ products represent 70% of instant scratch game retail sales globally.
The company provides games, technology, analytics and services to 130 lotteries in 50 countries worldwide, including nearly every North American lottery.
A month ago, Scientific Games and the North Carolina Education Lottery announced extending their deal for the instant scratch game program. The program renewal will help the state’s gambling industry collect billions of revenue annually.
Scientific Games recently signed a seven-year expansion with the Georgia Lottery to provide scratch cards. That notice came as the Georgia Lottery celebrated its 30th anniversary while maintaining a 30-year primary instant game partnership with Scientific Games for scratchers.
