While Fanatics Betting & Gaming will have to hope for a future expansion of legal online gambling in Indiana to bring its online casino product to people in the state, the company has gotten its foot in the door. As of Tuesday, Indiana residents and visitors can access the online version of the Fanatics Sportsbook.
For Indianans who may have bet on sports online with PointsBet Sportsbook, that option no longer exists. Fanatics has migrated all user data from PointsBet onto its platform in Indiana, as it has in other states. The sportsbook app is welcoming all eligible Indiana bettors, though.
Fanatics online sportsbook replaces PointsBet for Indianans
In 2023, Fanatics acquired PointsBet’s United States operations. Since then, Fanatics has been working to migrate PointsBet customers in various states to its online gambling platform. According to a press release from Fanatics, that process is now complete for Indiana.
While Fanatics’ online gambling product includes an online casino offering, such gambling for real money remains illegal in Indiana. Although legislation to change that surfaced in 2023, that hasn’t been the case so far this year due to resistance to any further expansion of gambling in the state.
Thus, Indianans can only access the sports betting functions of the Fanatics app. Indiana has become the 14th state in which Fanatics offers its sportsbook. For people in the state who had accounts with PointsBet, getting started with Fanatics should be quite simple.
Accounts should be ready to go for PointsBet users in Indiana
Fanatics says that as of Tuesday, “each PointsBet customer’s username, password, account balance, rewards points, and responsible gaming settings will be automatically migrated to the Fanatics Sportsbook” in Indiana.
Therefore, people who wagered with PointsBet in Indiana in the past should be able to sign in to Fanatics’ app using their PointsBet credentials to find their accounts exactly as they left them.
However, Fanatics Sportsbook is not limited to former PointsBet customers in Indiana. Anyone who is legally eligible to wager on sporting events online, according to Indiana law can bet with Fanatics if they so choose.
The only difference is that people who have formerly bet with PointsBet won’t have to go through the registration process. The process is easy, free and quick for those who need to do so. Simply download the Android or iOS app depending on which device you have and follow the signup prompts.
Former PointsBet users and new customers alike can take advantage of Fanatics’ rewards program, which offers FanCash for every bet placed, according to a Fanatics news release. Users can redeem that currency for free wagers within the app or experiences and merchandise through Fanatics’ other businesses.
While the wait continues for access to legal Indiana online casinos, Fanatics’ sportsbook offers a way to potentially build up FanCash for Indiana residents to redeem if it does happen someday.
