High-stakes championship poker will return to Atlantic City’s Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in January 2023.
Borgata Hotel and BetMGM have teamed up to host “The Return: A Borgata Championship Event,” with $4 million in cash up for grabs.
Starting on Jan. 2, 2023, the event will include four tournament mini-series inside the hotel’s Poker Room and Central Conference Center within seven days.
Vincent Alonge Jr., Borgata’s Director of Poker Operations, said:
“The return of championship poker to Borgata is a long time coming. Borgata is the premier gaming destination on the East Coast, which includes best-in-class poker tournaments.”

What to expect from “The Return”
$3M Championship Tournament
The $5,300 buy-in Championship is The Return’s main event with a guaranteed $3M prize pool. Each participant will compete for a guaranteed $1M first prize with no payout structure adjustments. The action begins on Jan. 4, with the final table taking place on Jan. 8.
$1M Mystery Bounty event
Borgata will host its first-ever Mystery Bounty event on Jan. 2, with $1,000,000 in guaranteed bounties. Mystery Bounty events allow players to win big by drawing a Mystery Bounty envelope, including the main prize of $250,000. Instead of a standard bounty, players draw Mystery Bounties immediately after eliminating another player.
Borgata Bounty and Super Survivor Event
Borgata will host two more guaranteed events between Jan. 6 and Jan. 8. Players can take part in one or both of the following events:
- $1,000 Borgata Bounty Event
- $10,000 Super Survivor Event
The poker room will also host multiple live satellites, including a $540+$60 Big Stack No Limit Hold ’em tournament on Jan. 3.
Bringing online qualifiers to “The Return”

Early registration available in December
Early tournament registration for the Championship Event and the Mystery Bounty event opens on Dec. 1 through the BetMGM poker app.
In-person sign-ups for all events will begin on Jan. 1 inside the Borgata Poker Room. Poker enthusiasts willing to participate in the tournament must have an MGM Rewards account.
