Game show fans who play at BetMGM Casino are in for a treat, as the online casino has announced it will be developing exclusive games based on The Price is Right and Family Feud. Those shows have been favorites of American audiences since the 1970s and will fit right in alongside BetMGM’s Wheel of Fortune Casino in New Jersey.
BetMGM has received permission to make the games from Fremantle, the entertainment company that owns the shows. Fremantle has made a series of deals involving casino content based on its game shows, including a live dealer game agreement with Playtech just a few months ago.
What to expect from the partnership?
BetMGM Casino offers its players a huge variety of games, with over 3500 online casino titles and counting on its larger sites. Some of those include the popular MGM Grand Millions, Dead Sea Scrolls, and Loot’En Khamun.
Through the multi-year agreement, BetMGM can make content based on Family Feud and The Price Is Right for its flagship BetMGM Casino and its secondary brands. Those include Borgata Casino, Party Casino, and of course Wheel of Fortune Casino.
We can expect to see some slots, but probably other types of games too. In fact, the deal explicitly includes:
- Slots
- Table games
- Non-traditional casino games
It’ll be interesting to see what “non-traditional” games might mean!
BetMGM’s game show focus
This collaboration with Fremantle isn’t BetMGM’s first foray into the world of TV game shows.
BetMGM was the first US online casino to experiment with specialty sub-brands for a niche audience. Its Wheel of Fortune Casino has a small but loyal audience in New Jersey and might have inspired Bally’s to try something similar with Monopoly Casino.
However, the slots developer IGT already has the exclusive rights to Wheel of Fortune casino games, so BetMGM had to work with them to set up that site. With Family Feud and The Price is Right, it’ll be calling all the shots itself.
Game shows and online casinos
BetMGM will be featured sponsor for both shows during certain weeks of the upcoming seasons, which could mean some interesting promotions for viewers.
Game shows have long been a staple of American culture. To put this into perspective, just like Netflix produced original content that could only be watched on its platform, BetMGM is basically doing what these game shows are doing, but instead of TV shows or movies, it’s creating exclusive gaming content.
Some of the earliest US game shows date back to the 1950s, “The $64,000 Question” and “Twenty-One.”
Other, more recent success stories include Deal or No Deal, Jeopardy, The $100,000 Pyramid, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and Press Your Luck. All of these have casino games based on them.
For example, White Hat and Gaming Realms have created slots and Slingo versions of Deal or No Deal, while IGT has developed slots for Jeopardy and The $100,000 Pyramid. Big Time Gaming and Playtech have also created slots and live dealer game shows for Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
With the rise of online gaming, there may be even more game shows making the transition to the casino world. And it looks like BetMGM Casino wants to be at the heart of that!
