Although $2.10 can’t get you a gallon of gas, it can make you a millionaire. Earlier this month, a gambler in Pennsylvania hit the biggest jackpot in Golden Nugget Online Casino history, turning a $2.10 bet into a $1.49 million win.
Days later, a player in Michigan won a $1.42 million jackpot on a $5.38 bet, according to a news release from DraftKings, which owns Golden Nugget’s iGaming app. Jason March, vice president of iGaming marketing and operations at DraftKings, said in the release:
“We are always thrilled when customers win big, especially when it’s a monumental win, taking home the largest Golden Nugget Online Casino jackpot to date. We continue to deliver our customers a best-in-class experience with exclusive product features that they can’t find anywhere else [and] look forward to celebrating our next million-dollar jackpot winner.”
How two customers won nearly $3 million playing online slots
The record-breaking jackpot win happened on Feb. 7. A lucky customer played Cleopatra, an Egyptian-themed IGT online slots game. Cleopatra has multiple iterations, including Cleopatra Grand and Slingo Cleopatra.
The $1.42 million win on Golden Nugget‘s Michigan online casino came on 88 Fortunes. The game is one of the most popular in-game studio in Light & Wonder’s lineup.
It has served as a template for other game releases, including BetMGM’s recent casino-branded launch, Luxor Fortunes.
DraftKings and Golden Nugget online casinos hit big in New Jersey, too
Jackpots of $1 million or more are relatively common in states with iGaming. For example, the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement’s log of online jackpot wins shows two million-dollar jackpots this year.
Both of the wins took place in January on DraftKings-owned New Jersey online casinos:
- Jan. 13: A customer won a $1.35 million jackpot playing Golden Nugget’s Willy Wonka: I Want It Now.
- Jan. 26: A player won $1.02 million playing DraftKings’ Multihand Blackjack title.
Big jackpots aren’t just a win for the customers who took home the big prizes. Online casino operators like DraftKings can leverage the wins to attract new customers and keep existing ones. Those new customers are particularly important in states like Pennsylvania and Michigan.
The Keystone State’s online casinos generated more than $1 billion in revenue in 2024, according to PlayPennsylvania. Michigan online casinos, the biggest iGaming market in the country, saw 15 online casinos generate nearly $2 billion in revenue in 2023, PlayMichigan noted.
