B2B online casino provider Red Rake Gaming has acquired a license in Michigan, just weeks after its US debut through a partnership with DraftKings Casino (NASDAQ: DKNG) in Pennsylvania.
Nick Barr, Managing Director for Red Rake Gaming Malta, expressed his delight over the license acquisition in a press statement. He added that their games had a great reception in Pennsylvania, and they hope to replicate the same success at Wolverine State.
“We are delighted to have obtained our second US license in Michigan, which is a key market in our strategic expansion plans. The response to our games in Pennsylvania has been overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to bringing our engaging and feature-rich content to players in Michigan.”

Red Rake Gaming set to introduce popular games to new audience
With its license, Red Rake can collaborate with state-licensed operators and share its titles with a larger audience. This has been one of its major objectives since expanding into US online casinos.
Some of Red Rake’s online casino games available in Michigan:
- Million 7
- The Asp of Cleopatra
- Secrets of the Temple
Barr also emphasized that their games are just what Michigan players are looking for, adding that they designed them to cater to diverse preferences. In a Red Rake Gaming news release, Barr said:
“Our team is committed to delivering a top-tier gaming experience that aligns with the expectations of the Michigan Gaming Control Board and the players.”
Expansion in US online casino market continues with NJ next
With its state picks, there is no doubt that the online casino provider is gunning for the top online casino hubs in the United States. Hence, its entrance into Keystone State has been a long time coming, as it had a gaming license since September 2023.
Red Rake told PlayUSA via email that it has applied for a license in New Jersey, and will launch in the state through a partnership with DraftKings.
“The NJ license is under review, but we have already gained approval via a transactional waiver, so start doing business asap, our first launch in the NJ state will be Draftkings,” the email read.
Timing into Michigan proves ideal as online casino revenue rises
It’s safe to say Red Rake’s timing in Michigan is perfect, as online casino revenue in the state almost reached $200 million in May. No doubt competition is high, but since new titles entice players and with Red Rake’s positive reception in Pennsylvania, it is likely up to the task to vie for the tense market.
According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, Michigan’s May 2024 gaming revenue of $198.6 million was the second-highest monthly revenue on record for the state. Within this robust market, Red Rake’s partner, DraftKings (in partnership with Bay Mills), generated $34.9 million, making it the third-largest contributor to the monthly total.
