Sweden-based iGaming firm Supremeland Gaming announced it’s ready for a US debut.
The company received interim authorization to provide online casino games in Pennsylvania through its in-house game studio, Powderkeg Studio. Supremeland Executive Chairman Johan Apel said in a news release that Pennsylvania will be the company’s canvas for creativity.
To get full licensure, the company will have to undergo a complete background investigation, according to Corey Sharp at PlayPennsylvania.
Who is Supremeland Gaming?
Supremeland is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden. Its CEO, Rickard Öhrn, has a background in investing and heading a sports broadcasting company.
Peter Wasielewski, who oversees the company’s game creation, is a Savannah College of Art and Design graduate. Before joining Supremeland in November 2021, he wrapped up a six-year career at online gaming firm Aristocrat Gaming.
The company’s game design wing, Powderkeg Studios, is based in Las Vegas. It’s a relatively small shop, according to its website — its game library is composed of four titles:
- Munition Mine
- Red Panda Rising
- Wild Quad Squad
- Die Piñata Die
The company has offices in Las Vegas, Stockholm and New Delhi. It offers its games in Mexico, Canada, South America and Europe.
Supremeland has another gaming studio in the works. But it’s unclear if that studio will contribute to titles offered in Pennsylvania.
Technically, this isn’t the first time Supremeland has offered titles in the US. It signed a distribution deal with EveryMatrix in September 2022 that allowed EveryMatrix to offer Supremeland titles in its US markets.
The Pennsylvania news is important because it’s the first time the company has received approval to operate on its own in a state rather than through any other gaming firm.
Öhrn said in a Supremland Gaming news release:
“We are thrilled to have obtained our first approval in the United States, and we couldn’t be more excited to introduce our titles to the American iGaming community. This is a momentous occasion for Supremeland, and we are eager to contribute to the vibrant gaming culture in Pennsylvania and beyond.”
PA online casino market is a big opportunity for Supremeland
iGaming in the Keystone State is big business. For example, in December 2023, PA online casino revenue amounted to $204.2 million.
That total was an all-time high for online casinos in Pennsylvania. It marked the first time any state posted more than $200 million in revenue in a single month, according to PlayPennsylvania.
Entering the market as a game manufacturer (pending approval) allows Supremeland to grab some of that revenue. Should all go well for the company, we’ll likely see news of Supremeland pursuing licenses in Michigan and New Jersey, too. Those states represent the second- and third-biggest US online casinos.
Apel stated: “Securing our first US gaming approval in Pennsylvania marks not just a milestone, but a testament to our commitment to innovation and the limitless possibilities that lie ahead. With the Keystone State as our gaming canvas, we eagerly anticipate transforming the landscape, pushing boundaries, and creating immersive experiences that resonate within this new American base.”
