Brews and bets. That’s what’s going down at Cincinnati’s Rhinegeist Brewery. The popular watering hole has launched a partnership with Tipico Ohio Sportsbook.

Tipico Sports Deck is not a sportsbook. Rather, it’s a branded area meant to be a go-to spot for game day experiences.

The deal includes a Tipico-branded outdoor space called the “Tipico Sports Deck.” Teaming up with Rhinegeist should increase the company’s profile and boost the game-day experience for sports fans, Tipico CCO David Paschkes said.

“This exhilarating new collaboration with Rhinegeist will allow our Ohio team to transform the gameday experience and harness the unwavering allegiance of the Cincinnati sports fan base. Rhinegeist has rapidly established itself as a staple of the Cincinnati community and will be an instrumental partner in helping us establish hyperlocal affinity and a level of authenticity unmatched by competitors.”

Brewery will develop space as Tipico plans multiple sports-focused events

Over the next few months, Rhinegeist will build out the Tipico Sports Deck. It will eventually include nine more TVs and deck-style seating. There will also be various offers that will encourage app sign-ups for the Tipico sportsbook.

The sports deck is part of a bigger partnership between the brewery and the sportsbook. During the 2023 calendar year, Tipico will host events at the brewery for all the major sporting events:

  • Super Bowl Sunday
  • NCAA March Madness
  • MLB Opening Day
  • The Kentucky Derby

On Jan. 15, the brewery and Tipico held their first event, which gave a glimpse of what to expect from the partnership. The “First Round Showdown” was a watch party for the Cincinnati Bengals‘ first-round matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Part of Rhinegeist’s event promotion included an exclusive offer: Up to $150 in bet credits and Rhinegeist merchandise for new Tipico sportsbook customers.

Brand recognition is at the heart of the brewery-sportsbook deal

Tipico is hoping the increased name visibility will convert into new customers downloading their online sports betting app. In theory, those customers would attend Tipico events and place bets via a mobile device.

So, while the Tipico Sports Deck isn’t a sportsbook, it could serve as a sports betting lounge. Rhinegeist Director of Strategic Partnerships Marissa Beck said the brewery is “excited” about its deal with Tipico and said:

“We are already a destination for major sporting events in the Cincinnati area, and this partnership will only enrich the experience for our guests. Sports are a cornerstone of Cincinnati’s history and cultural fabric, and we look forward to bringing people together with the added incentive of winning big with Tipico.”

Rhinegeist partnership adds to Tipico sportsbook expansion

Tipico has been busy in the Buckeye State. Over the past year, it launched a sports betting app, inked a deal with MLS franchise Columbus Crew, and partnered with AEG Presents, an entertainment company that runs music venues throughout the state.

The company operates online sports betting apps in Ohio, New Jersey, and Colorado. Less than two weeks ago, it launched an online sportsbook in Iowa. Additionally, it runs an online casino in New Jersey.

Last year, there were rumors that Fanatics wanted to acquire Tipico. However, the deal fell through after the two sides couldn’t agree on a price.
