Three Colville Gaming Central Washington casinos will offer sports betting through an International Gaming Technology (IGT) platform.
No estimated date for the start of sports betting was given in the release put out by the company that oversees the 12 Tribes Lake Chelan Casino in Mason, the 12 Tribes Omak Casino, and the 12 Tribes Coulee Dam Casino.
“We were determined to thoroughly vet potential partners and find the right one to continue to deliver world-class entertainment for our guests,” said Kary Nichols, the CEO of the Colville Tribal Federal Corporation, which is the parent company of Colville Gaming in a press release.
12 Tribes Lakes Chelan is located about 180 miles from Seattle and is the biggest of the company’s three sites offering over 560 games.
What’s the status of sports betting in Washington?
The state government legalized sports betting in all of the 29 federally-recognized Native American tribal casino locations in 2020, but the federal government didn’t officially clear the activity until Sept. 2021.
Washington prohibits real money online gaming and mobile sports betting, so the only way fans can bet on the local teams like the Seattle Seahawks (NFL) and Seattle Kraken (NHL) is to do so in person. Several of the tribal casinos have already partnered with operating companies to provide sports betting.
Last December, the Snoqualmie Casino, just 25 miles from Seattle, became the first facility to offer sports betting in Washington through an agreement with IGT. FanDuel controls the sportsbook at the Suquamish Casino, and BetMGM partnered with the Puyallup Tribe for two Tacoma tribal spots.
Where can I play IGT games in Washington?
IGT is a global software gaming specialist, mainly in slot machines and other electronic games. If you’ve ever played a Wheel of Fortune progressive slot, then you’ve seen what IGT is all about.
“Thanks to IGT we feel confident in our ability to provide our guests with an exciting and secure sports betting environment, and we look forward to opening our doors to sports enthusiasts soon,” said 12 Tribes Colville Casinos COO Tony Posey.
While there’s no timeline given by Colville, looking at the dates of other casinos from the time they announced their operator partnerships to when the first sports bet was placed reveals that the process usually takes months, not years.
