It appears as though BetMGM users were having problems accessing their accounts. The issues started popping up on Monday evening.
Las Vegas Locally on X, formerly Twitter, shared a couple of social media posts saying their BetMGM accounts were hacked.
Two separate posts said their accounts were accessed by someone else. The person accessing the account was looking at tax documents and removing funds to a Visa debit card that did not belong to the account holder.

A different BetMGM user says their account was “hacked and cleaned out.” Numerous other posts on X are saying they simply can’t access their BetMGM accounts. None of these shared whether or not funds were removed from their accounts.
If this is indeed a hack, it wouldn’t be the first time BetMGM users have had their accounts breached. In 2022, SecurityWeek reported that BetMGM had a security breach. The hackers gained access to the information of 1.5 million BetMGM customers.
In a statement, a spokesperson for BetMGM said:
“We are aware of a technical issue earlier today that resulted in some customers experiencing delays or difficulty accessing their accounts. That issue has been resolved.”
Two-factor authentication is helpful
Using two-factor authentication appears to be working to prevent unauthorized users from accessing BetMGM accounts.
Anyone else get a lot of these two factor authentication texts in September even when you weren’t signing into accounts? 9 attempts.
I posted my query to an online discussion thread about the 87175 number. A commenter believes this is someone trying to access my BetMGM account. pic.twitter.com/w2ZbBoApwI

While annoying for heavy app users, this is a useful tool to help protect financial information on an app. This includes online casino and sportsbook apps.
BetMGM is not affected by recent MGM Resorts hack
On Sept. 11, MGM Resorts casinos in Las Vegas and around the country were victims of a cyberattack. This affected numerous brick-and-mortar casinos, hotels, and MGM Rewards accounts.
BetMGM websites and apps continued to operate as usual while slot machines inside casinos were glitchy at best. After 10 days, MGM Resorts said its casinos and hotels were mostly back to normal operations.
It wasn’t until this week that MGM Resorts customers could access their MGM Rewards account and use offers when booking hotel reservations.
