Fanatics Betting and Gaming has opened a 600-square-foot retail sportsbook location at the Progressive Field, home of Cleveland Guardians. It is located outside the Right Field District Gate at the corner of Larry Doby Way and East 9th Street.

The opening marks Fanatics’ first step into retail sports betting at an MLB stadium. Visitors willing to place an in-person bet will be able to do so without having a Guardians game ticket.

Ted Baugh, Cleveland Guardians Vice President of Corporate and Premium Partnerships, said in a Globe Newswire press release:

“We’re very excited to partner with Fanatics Betting and Gaming to bring a retail sportsbook location, their first in Major League Baseball, outside Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland. This will provide our fans a very convenient in-person option to place bets.”

Sports betting in Ohio launched on Jan. 1, but Fanatics Sportsbook took time to enter the market.

Fanatics Sportsbook will be open every day, Paul Shuey places the first bet

The former Cleveland Guardians pitcher Paul Shuey placed the ceremonial first bet at the brand-new Fanatics Sportsbook at Progressive Field. Shuey placed a $20 Moneyline bet (-135) on the University of North Carolina to win their home opener against the University of South Carolina in the college football league.

Visitors can enjoy the newly designed brick-and-mortar sportsbook that features:

  • Two betting windows
  • Four self-service kiosks with odds and markets provided by Fanatics’ in-house technology
  • Seven TV monitors

The Fanatics Sportsbook will be open weekdays from 2 p.m. – 8 p.m. and weekends from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. On game days, the sportsbook will be available two hours before the first pitch and stay open through the end of the game.

The Fanatics Sportsbook app is available for download

Sports fans across Ohio can download the app on iOS and Android. According to the company’s press release, Fanatics Sportsbook offers:

  • Fast signup
  • Easy betting
  • Transparent withdrawals
  • Search functionality
  • Curated “Discover page” with sports and bets

Fanatics Sportsbook players can also earn up to 5% cashback in FanCash for every dollar spent on the sportsbook. Moreover, the sportsbook offers sports betting options for all major sports, including:

  • Professional and college football
  • Basketball
  • Hockey
  • Baseball
  • Tennis
  • Soccer
  • Golf
  • MMA
  • Boxing

In the meantime, the retail sportsbook will be run in-house by Fanatics alongside its trading suppliers.

Besides Ohio, the Fanatics Sportsbook is available online in Maryland, Massachusetts and Tennessee. It also has two retail sportsbooks in Ohio, as well as one retail location inside an NFL stadium at FedExField in Maryland.

Fanatics was approved for Ohio sports betting on day one (Jan. 1) but chose to open the app for a privileged group of customers.
