Through a partnership between Light & Wonder and Penn Entertainment, Hollywood Casino at Greektown-themed live dealer table games will launch on Penn’s online Hollywood Casino platform in Michigan.

Dana Jackel, Light & Wonder vice president of commercial & managing director for U.S. iGaming, said in a news release that it will be a game changer for the North American iGaming sector: “This is a very exciting launch for us.

We expect that the combination of the Hollywood Casino brand and our premium features will make for a highly relevant and extraordinarily fun gaming experience in North America.

“We believe Penn Entertainment’s players will love our feature-packed live dealer casino portfolio, and we look forward to enjoying mutual success in Michigan and beyond.”

It is be the first time Light & Wonder developed custom tables for a Michigan online casino operator using its brand. And it’s the first time Penn has offered online casino games featuring local property branding.

Key takeaways

  • Light & Wonder (NASDAQ: LNW) and Penn Entertainment (NASDAQ: PENN) have teamed up to launch Hollywood Casino at Greektown-themed live dealer tables on Penn’s online Hollywood Casino platform in Michigan.
  • This partnership marks a first for both companies in terms of custom tables and local property branding.
  • The alliance will introduce new live dealer games, including a branded blackjack variant.

What to expect from Greektown-themed live dealer tables

This partnership will introduce gaming experiences at Hollywood Casino in Greektown. Players from the Wolverine State can now enjoy a fan favorite from the in-house studio, Penn Game Studios, along with:

  • Exclusively branded blackjack tables
  • New live-dealer version of Lucky Cat Baccarat

Penn has also expanded its casino offerings with Light & Wonder titles, which are available in Michigan and at the Score Bet Sportsbook & Casino in Ontario, Canada.

Vice President of Operations at Penn Interactive Jason Birney said the alliance will boost its online casino offerings:

“We are pleased to partner with Light & Wonder to launch these bespoke gaming options for our customers in Michigan.

The addition of these games enhances our overall online casino offering in the state and creates important omnichannel touchpoints between our Greektown property and our Hollywood Casino product.”

Something to look out for on the Light & Wonder games is that they are customizable, localized, and have features like Shuffle Master Side Bets and PayMeNow.

iGaming sector boosts Light & Wonder’s Q2 revenue

Light and Wonder’s progress has been reflected in their financial reports. For example, Light & Wonder’s Q2 2024 revenue shows the company raked in $818 million, indicating a 12% increase from last year.

The company also reported this as the 13th consecutive quarter of revenue growth.

It is also important to note that its iGaming sector was one of the biggest contributors to this feat, as it gained a 6% increase from Q2 2023, reaching $74 million in revenue.

On the other hand, Penn Entertainment’s Q2 2024 numbers reflect some stagnation as it reported $1.66 billion in revenue, signifying a 0.7% decrease from the previous year.

Like the overall revenue dip, its interactive division also witnessed a slight decline of about 9%, reaching $257.5 million. However, the interactive division is currently in strategic investment and growth, with profitability expected in a couple of years.
