MGM Resorts Announces New Hotel Partnership With Marriott

MGM Resorts has announced a new hotel partnership with Marriott. The new “MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy” partnership will begin Oct. 1.

This deal includes 12 MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas. Altogether, Marriot customers will have access to 17 MGM Resorts properties and 40,000 rooms around the US.

Marriott Bonvoy members will be able to book reservations, earn and redeem Marriott Bonvoy points at MGM Resorts properties.

This partnership has been in the rumor mill since MGM Resorts purchased Cosmopolitan. Marriott has been a partner with Cosmopolitan since well before MGM Resorts made the purchase.

“This historic, long-term agreement brings together two of the most-trusted and iconic brands in hospitality and entertainment,” Bill Hornbuckle, president and chief executive officer of MGM Resorts, said in a news release.

Hornbuckle added:

“We’ve seen first-hand the strong demand from Marriott International customers through our existing relationship at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, and this new agreement will enable us to further optimize our overall profitability. We’re thrilled to now scale the relationship and offer Marriott Bonvoy members greater distribution access to our award-winning resorts — as well as exclusive event and entertainment opportunities — in Las Vegas and across the U.S.”

This is a two-way partnership that allows MGM Rewards members to link accounts with Marriott Bonvoy. This will allow members to receive benefits from the international hotel rewards program.

The new 20-year strategic licensing agreement announcement comes shortly after Hyatt said it was parting ways with MGM Resorts after Sept. 30.

Neither company has mentioned how tier-matching will work. This was one of the most-popular benefits from the partnership between MGM Rewards and Hyatt.

MGM Resorts Inside The Marriott Booking System

“MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy” includes 17 casino hotels in the US. In addition to this brand name, a few will join the Cosmopolitan as part of a specific Marriott brand.

  • Aria will join Cosmopolitan in the Autograph Collection
  • Park MGM will be part of the Tribute Collection
  • Bellagio will be part of the Luxury Collection

MGM Resorts notes that the current Marriott and Cosmopolitan partnership will not change.

The following MGM Resorts Las Vegas properties will be part of the “MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy.”

  • Excalibur
  • Luxor
  • Mandalay Bay
  • MGM Grand and The Signature
  • New York-New York
  • NoMad (at Park MGM)
  • Vdara

The “MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy” partnership also includes a handful of properties outside of Las Vegas:

  • MA: MGM Springfield
  • MD: MGM National Harbor
  • MI: MGM Grand Detroit
  • MS: Beau Rivage
  • NJ: Borgata

Rewards programs will work together

Marriott Bonvoy and MGM Rewards will unlock significant benefits and experiences for members of both loyalty programs.

Marriott Bonvoy members will have access to benefits at “MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy” properties. Similarly, MGM Rewards members will receive certain benefits at more than 8,500 Marriott Bonvoy properties.

Members of both programs will also be able to exchange MGM Rewards points for Marriott Bonvoy points and vice versa.

The two companies will have more specific information about the partnership as Oct. 1 approaches.

BetMGM also part of the deal

Marriott has also entered into a loyalty marketing agreement with national sportsbook and online casino operator BetMGM. Marriott Bonvoy will become the exclusive hospitality loyalty program partner for BetMGM in the U.S. and Canada.

Specifics are sparse at this time but the two companies shared some ways they will work together. BetMGM will provide Marriott Bonvoy members with occasions to earn Marriott Bonvoy points on certain BetMGM transactions.

Additionally, Marriott Bonvoy members will be able to participate in exclusive games and offers with BetMGM.

This will be a reciprocal deal and BetMGM Rewards members will be able to exchange BetMGM Rewards points for Marriott Bonvoy points.

Like the hotel rewards partnership, the companies will announce more information closer to Oct. 1.
