After months of delays, the Marriott partnership with MGM Resorts International is now live. The MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy was set to debut last October, but that was delayed due to a cybersecurity attack at MGM.

In January, MGM Resorts announced some information on the partnership with the worldwide hotel operator. Some hotels were available for booking in Feb. and now the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy partnership is live.

Future visitors to MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas and around the US can now book hotel rooms through the Marriott Bonvoy system online or on the mobile app. In addition to booking hotel rooms, guests can also bid for a “once-in-a-lifetime” experience called Marriott Bonvoy Moments.

The special experiences are one reason that Marriott decided to partner with MGM. In a Marriott International news release, Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer, at Marriott International Peggy Roe elaborated:

“Travelers are seeking larger-than-life moments that speak to their passions and the destinations they love, and this guides our approach to orchestrating the guest and Marriott Bonvoy member experience at MGM Collection properties.”

Both companies see this partnership as a win-win-win. MGM Resorts (NYSE: MGM) and Marriott should generate greater revenue with the deal while guests can pay with points or buy special experiences.

How the MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy works

The MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy is different from the previous deal between the casino operator and its previous hotel partner.

Tier matching only works for upper-tier MGM Rewards members to become high-status Marriott Bonvoy patrons. This is not reciprocal like the previous hotel arrangement by MGM Resorts. Marriott Bonvoy members cannot match their status with MGM Rewards.

This can be great for casino visitors looking to spread their wings and travel outside of casinos. Upper-tier Marriott Bonvoy members have a slew of benefits at hotels around the world.

The real benefit of this partnership is for Marriott Bonvoy members who want to visit casinos. These visitors can book rooms in MGM Resorts casinos in Las Vegas and around the country using Bonvoy points.

These MGM Resorts Las Vegas casinos are now bookable through Marriott Bonvoy:

  • Aria (Autograph Collection)
  • Bellagio (Luxury Collection)
  • Cosmopolitan (Autograph Collection)
  • Excalibur
  • Luxor
  • Mandalay Bay
  • MGM Grand and The Signature
  • New York-New York
  • NoMad (at Park MGM)
  • Park MGM (Tribute Collection)
  • Vdara (at Aria)

Five MGM Resorts casinos around the country are now bookable through Marriott Bonvoy:

  • MA: MGM Springfield
  • MD: MGM National Harbor
  • MI: MGM Grand Detroit
  • MS: Beau Rivage
  • NJ: Borgata

The Marriott Bonvoy points needed for hotel room reservations are different based on the hotel category and location.

While in CA they will work with choreographers to design their own Bellagio Fountain show at the WET campus in Los Angeles.

All transportation in LA is included in the package.

A few months after the LA portion of this package, the duo will head to Las Vegas for a three-night stay in a penthouse suite at Bellagio. There’s also a three-night stay in up to two Salone Suites for friends.
