Evolution could be the live dealer games provider that fans of US online casinos might be the most familiar with, but Evolution isn’t the only option. Players on New Jersey‘s 888 Casino will soon get greater access to a competitor.

888 has closed a deal with Europe-based Playtech to bring its live dealer and other New Jersey online casino games to its platform in the Garden State. As 888 expands into other markets in the United States, Playtech will likely go with it.

888 Casino diversifies offerings with Playtech

New Jersey residents currently have the choice of almost 40 different online casino apps, with more like the Wheel of Fortune-themed online casino still on the way.

Thus, brands like 888 Casino need to update their offerings to compete constantly. 888 Casino announced a move to do just that on Thursday, inking a deal with Playtech. Playtech is a provider of gaming content that, while publicly traded on the London exchange, makes its headquarters in Malta.

Thursday’s press release says Playtech will provide its “live casino and random number generator games” to 888, starting in New Jersey. 888 Casino has already been offering live dealer games through a 2018 deal with Evolution. Playtech’s live dealer menu includes baccarat, blackjack, poker variants, and roulette.

Although the presser does not specify when the new games will be available on 888, New Jerseyans don’t necessarily have to wait. Playtech is no stranger to the United States or even New Jersey.

NJ online casinos are just the start for both companies

Playtech first established itself with BetMGM Casino New Jersey in September of 2020. Currently, New Jersey is the only place where players can access either 888 Casino or Playtech live dealer games in the US. The collaboration could form an incentive for expansion on both fronts.

The press release mentions that “other states” will follow New Jersey in this partnership. The release also calls the combination “part of both companies’ strategic expansion into the US market.”

Playtech already has a license for online casino content in Michigan. 888 offers its online poker product there already as well. Thus, the Great Lakes State seems a natural first expansion destination. For now, though, both companies will probably focus on getting their partnership in New Jersey up and running.
