State of Play’s TL;DR

  • Hard Rock International has begun its annual PINKTOBER campaign.
  • Hard Rock Bet, casinos, and online games are tied to breast cancer fundraising.

Hard Rock International has launched its 27th annual PINKTOBER campaign for October, tying breast cancer fundraising to promotions across Hard Rock casinos, Hard Rock Bet, Hard Rock Online Casino, hotels, and cafes.

The company said PINKTOBER has raised more than $15 million to date and that this year’s effort will again support the Hard Rock Heals Foundation and the American Cancer Society.

Hard Rock Bet, casinos and online games are part of the campaign

According to the company, participating Hard Rock casinos will run table game specials, slot tournaments, and entertainment programming benefiting the foundation’s breast cancer initiatives. Hard Rock Bet’s sportsbook and online casino apps will also support the campaign through new player signups that trigger a donation to the Hard Rock Heals Foundation, though the company did not specify the donation formula in the announcement.

Hard Rock Games is adding a digital component as well. Its Spins for the Cure promotion will run during October in Jackpot Planet and Neverland Casino, with players able to earn giveaway entries every 50 spins and a chance to win $4,500.

Another payments-related tie-in involves the Unity by Hard Rock Mastercard. Hard Rock said cardmembers can generate a donation through purchases made in October, up to $75,000. The company also said 1% of net credit card sales during the Bread Financial event period will be donated.

Hospitality and retail activations broaden the annual fundraiser

Outside gaming, Hard Rock said hotels will offer PINKTOBER guest experiences and donate 80 complimentary vacation room nights at all-inclusive properties in Mexico and the Caribbean. Participating Hard Rock Cafes will also offer special menu and retail items during the campaign.

A limited-edition STRONGER TOGETHER pin will benefit the American Indian Cancer Foundation through the Hard Rock Heals Foundation.

Stephanie Piimauna, senior vice president of people and inclusion at Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming, said PINKTOBER reflects the “spirit of compassion, connection and purpose” of the Hard Rock brand. Kerri Whetzel, vice president of corporate relations at the American Cancer Society, said partnerships like this help ensure that patients and families “do not have to face the journey alone.”

The campaign runs throughout October. Hard Rock said funds raised this year will be earmarked for breast cancer research and awareness efforts worldwide.
