Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming are expanding their PlayersEdge responsible gambling program with a new awareness campaign, a digital health app pilot and additional research partnerships.

The effort coincides with Responsible Gambling Education Month (RGEM), observed each September by the American Gaming Association to improve gambling literacy, strengthen employee training and raise awareness of problem gambling resources.

Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming said the updates give players more tools for making informed decisions and help casino staff better support guests. PlayersEdge combines player education, staff training, research and intervention resources; responsible gambling education has been part of team member training since 2021.

The program uses a segmented approach that targets different player groups, from newcomers and casual players to seasoned regulars.

New campaign targets gambling misconceptions

The new “Chance” campaign, introduced across Hard Rock casinos during RGEM, addresses a common misconception: that gambling outcomes can be predicted or influenced through strategy or skill. Its message is simple — players cannot control chance, but they can control how they play.

Hard Rock said the campaign is meant to deepen guests’ understanding of randomness and encourage healthier decision-making.

Anonymous app aims to support guests in Cincinnati

Hard Rock also tested the Almond Digital Health App at Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati as a digital extension of PlayersEdge. The three-month pilot gave guests access to an anonymous, multilingual platform designed to encourage healthier gambling behaviors and connect users with support resources.

Following positive feedback, Hard Rock is evaluating whether to continue the program in Cincinnati and expand it to other properties.

Partnership studies gambling’s cognitive impact

Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming are also founding members of the Better Gambling Forum, a multisector coalition created through the Brain Capital Alliance in collaboration with the G7, the United Nations and the World Economic Forum.

The forum focuses on evidence-based approaches to gambling, emphasizing brain health, mental resilience and cognitive capital, and brings together researchers, policymakers and industry stakeholders to address gambling-related risks.

PlayersEdge also continues research with Dr. Michael Wohl and his team at Carleton University. Five Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming casinos will take part in a study examining how supervisors and managers experience responsible gambling interactions on casino floors.

The research, funded independently by the International Center for Responsible Gaming, will examine organizational factors that may influence program effectiveness.

Responsible gambling becomes year-round priority

Paul Pellizzari, vice president of global social responsibility for Hard Rock International and Seminole Gaming, said the company’s approach centers on giving players and staff the knowledge and support to make informed choices.

“Responsible gambling is about empowering players, team members and guests with knowledge, research and support so they can make informed choices that work for them,” Pellizzari said in a press release. He added that PlayersEdge will keep evolving through education, research and training initiatives that promote positive play while supporting guests who may need assistance.

The PlayersEdge expansion was announced alongside Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming’s latest social responsibility report, “Amplified Impact,” which covers responsible gambling, anti-human trafficking efforts, environmental sustainability, workplace culture and community initiatives.

With these updates, Hard Rock and Seminole Gaming are positioning responsible gambling as a year-round part of casino operations rather than a campaign tied only to RGEM.
