Poker has long been a family affair, and the 2025 World Series of Poker will confirm that once more as the Hellmuth family has two Phils looking to win a coveted bracelet. All-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth will compete for his 18th career WSOP bracelet, while his son, Phillip III, has his eyes on his first.

Multiple family members consistently try their hand each year at the seven-week festival held on the Las Vegas Strip, including siblings, couples, parents and their offspring.

Phillip III had just two live scores totaling under $8,000 in earnings entering the WSOP, recently beginning to take poker seriously after an eight-year career in the banking industry. If he starts to make a name for himself, the Hellmuth family will join rarefied air among other legends of the game, including those below.

Prominent father-son poker duos

The Brunsons are the first to come to mind when considering multi-generational poker superstars. Doyle “Texas Dolly” Brunson and his son, Todd, are the only two Poker Hall of Fame members in the same family: Doyle earned 10 bracelets and over $6.1 million in live tournament earnings, while Todd has one bracelet and $4.7 million in live earnings.

Joe Hachem and his son, Daniel, are another set of forces each year. Joe, who won the 2005 Main Event, has at least one WSOP cash since 2013 with just shy of $13 million in live earnings. Daniel has $848K in live earnings, including a second-place finish in a $1,500 event last year for $180K and a 79th-place finish in the 2019 Main Event for $98K.

The third duo worth mentioning represents another pair of bracelet winners, Yosef and Jorden Fox. Yosef won his first-career bracelet on June 3, taking down the $10,000 Mystery Bounty for $729K, with Jorden on the rail to cheer him on. Jorden earned his bracelet in 2019, winning a $1,000 event for $420K.

Poker power couples

Husband-wife duos also make names for themselves at the WSOP. The Foxen family headlines this list, with Alex and Kristen boasting a combined resume with seven bracelets and more than $57 million in live earnings.

Alex has won three of those bracelets and has nearly $50 million in tournament cashes. All three of his bracelets came in High Roller events with seven-figure prizes.

With over $10 million in live earnings, four bracelets and a 13th-place finish in last year’s Main Event, Kristen is also recognized as one of the top No-Limit Hold’em tournament players in the world.

Speaking of the Main Event, Kelly Lucas (Minkin) has seven figures of live earnings and made numerous deep runs in the Main Event, finishing as the last woman standing in 2015 (29th place – $211K) and 2018 (50th place – $156K). Her husband, Landon, has a respectable $362K in live earnings with two 10th-place finishes in WSOP bracelet events in 2021 ($3,000 NLH) and 2022 ($1,500 NL 2-7 Lowball Draw).

Lastly, Jacksonville’s Kelly and Kelley Slay make the list. Both have mid-six figures in live earnings with multiple WSOP cashes. They’ve even cashed the same event twice in 2022, with wife Kelly producing the better result in both tournaments.

Who’s the best sibling?

While many more could make this list in every category, it’s time to look at poker’s sibling rivalries with the following three trios of brothers.

Let’s start with the Mizrachi family – Michael, Robert and Eric. Michael’s $17.6 million in live earnings leads the family, as do his six career bracelets. Robert’s career resume includes $9.6 million in live earnings and five bracelets. Eric has multiple WSOP cashes, including one second-place finish in 2023, and nearly half a million in live earnings to round out the brothers’ accolades.

Southern California’s Le family sits right there with the Mizrachis. Nam Le has $7.6 million in live earnings but is the only one of his three brothers without a WSOP bracelet. Tuan Le has $5.7 million in live earnings and two bracelets; Allan Le has $4.6 million in live earnings and one bracelet.

Canadian brothers Sam, Lucas and Max Greenwood round out the list. The Greenwood family dominates live and online poker, with Sam’s $39 million in live earnings and one bracelet leading the way. Luc has amassed $8.6 million in live earnings but no bracelets, while Max has not played since 2020 but has $2.1 million in live earnings and won a bracelet in 2008.

All results listed were based on player profiles on The Hendon Mob, the world’s largest live poker database.
