[toc]One of the most popular televised poker shows during the poker boom will be getting a reboot. Poker Central recently announced it is relaunching Poker After Dark, exclusively for PokerGO subscribers.

Poker After Dark back on air after six-year absence

These will be the first new episodes of Poker After Dark since the show went off the air in 2011. Production originally ended in the wake of Black Friday. President of Poker Central, Joe Kataky, spoke about the new program in a release:

“PokerGO’s vast content library will now include the return of one of the most beloved poker shows in the world as we continue our commitment to delivering premium live content our subscribers want to see. We plan to announce additional high stakes tournaments and original programming in the near future as we continue to build on the PokerGO offering.”

New episodes of Poker After Dark will air year-round. This gives poker enthusiasts plenty of new content to consume. However, it will only be available to PokerGO subscribers.

The new PAD will live at Aria

The new Poker After Dark will use the show’s old format of single-table cash games and sit & go tournaments. Poker Central will also be putting its own spin on things though.

The show will be broadcast on a livestream. Players will be mic’d up with “limited” commentary. This will give viewers the chance to listen to the game’s biggest stars express their thoughts and opinions in real time.

Nick Schulman and Ali Nejad will provide the commentary. This is a commentary team Poker Central put together for the Super High Roller Bowl. The duo earned plenty of praise from the poker community for their chemistry, knowledge, and ability to fill dead air when the action slows down. The pair are currently commentating for the World Series of Poker as well. Nejad and Schulman should be an excellent complement to the mic’d up players.

According to the press release, “Poker games on the show will include no-limit hold’em, pot-limit Omaha, as well as a variety of other mixed games.”

Poker PROductions back behind the camera

Poker PROductions will produce the episodes. The production team also produced the original run of the show. Filming will take place at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mori Eskandani, founder of Poker PROductions and original creator of Poker After Dark, is happy to be back in action.

“‘Poker After Dark’ achieved some of the most breathtaking moments in poker by bringing the fans into an intimate setting up close and personal with the players. PokerGO is the perfect destination for the return of ‘Poker After Dark’ and we look forward to bringing back the same spirit of the show that made it such a hit in the past.”
