Arizona’s legal sports betting market is continuing to show success. In October, Arizona players gambled over $648 million on sports, according to the latest report from the Arizona Department of Gaming (ADG).
The figure represents a nearly 4.8% annual increase compared to October last year. The number is also a 6.2% monthly rise from the $610 million gambled in September.
During October 2023, the state generated nearly $55.59 million in revenue and $3.29 million in privilege fees.
7th time since September 2021 that Arizona handle topped $600M
From the $648.21 million betting handle, almost all of the bets in Arizona came from online sportsbooks. To be more precise:
- $641.02 million came through 17 AZ online sportsbooks
- $5.4 million came from AZ retail locations
In the last 26 months of Arizona sports betting being live, October was the seventh time with total bets topping $600 million.

Arizona’s October revenue figures rank second in the state’s records
Arizona sports betting operators claimed $56.87 million in gross revenue in October, ranking second in the state’s records, only after the $60.12 million generated in September.
With players’ winnings totaling $591.34 million in October, operators brought in $55.59 million adjusted gross event wagering receipts. That was a decrease from the $59.7 million gaming revenue Arizona generated in September.
Arizona October sports betting by the numbers
For the first time in a while, DraftKings took the No.1 spot for both handle and gross revenue. According to the ADG’s October 2023 revenue report, these are the top online sportsbooks in Arizona during the month:
- DraftKings: $220.62 million handle and $12.75 million in revenue
- FanDuel: $220.30 million online handle and $11.59 million in revenue
- BetMGM: $90.50 million in online sports bets and $5.38 million in revenue
- Caesars Sportsbook: $59.10 million handle and $1.82 million in revenue
- Penn Sports (Barstool Sportsbook): $13.87 million handle and $376,462.21 in revenue
Meanwhile, FanDuel was the best-performing Arizona retail operator in October, with revenue of $2.13 million.
With a 10% tax rate on AGR, Arizona sports betting operators spent almost $3.29 million on privilege fees.
