Floridians who visited one of three Seminole casinos on Thursday (Dec. 7) found new options for trying their luck. For guests of another pair of Seminole casinos in the state, such gaming expansion is not far off, either.
The expanded gaming that launched Thursday included craps, roulette and in-person sports betting. Floridians of age across the state now have mobile access to the latter via the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Hard Rock Bet app, too.
Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood is ground zero for expansion
The events that took place Thursday have been years in the making. In 2021, the Seminole Tribe of Florida finalized a new gaming compact with the state enabling them to offer new table games and control sports wagering.
Nowhere will the Seminole Tribe celebrate the actual arrival of that expansion than at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood. According to a news release from the Seminole Tribe of Florida, a slate of celebrities were making appearances on Thursday.
Additionally, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood will hold a Bruno Mars concert and offer special dining opportunities to guests over the weekend of Dec. 8-10. The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood was not the only place offering expanded gaming on Thursday, though.
Seminole Tribe’s plan to introduce gaming expansion at other properties
If you live closer to another Seminole casino in Florida, fret not. In early November, the Seminole Tribe announced it would bring craps, in-person sports wagering and roulette to five other properties in the state in short order.
Seminole Casino Coconut Creek and Seminole Classic Casino Hollywood also debuted those gaming options on Dec. 7. As of that earlier announcement, the Seminole Tribe stated that it would open such games at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa on Friday.
Finally, the Seminole Tribe said it would launch the expansion at Seminole Casino Brighton and Seminole Casino Immokalee on Dec. 11. For Floridians who simply want to get some bets on sporting events down, there is yet another option.
Hard Rock Bet ends testing period in Florida
Although the legal status of online sports betting using the Hard Rock Bets app in Florida is still somewhat tenuous, such wagering is nonetheless currently available to everyone in the state who is at least 21 years of age and is not participating in any self-exclusion programs.
The Seminole Tribe started a testing phase for the app in early November. During that time, only people who had used the app during a short window in 2021 or met some other conditions were able to place bets.
Those limitations are now gone. The same goes for limitations barring craps, in-person sports wagering, and roulette at Seminole casinos in Florida. If those gaming types prove as popular as the celebrities in Hollywood (Florida), then their debut will truly be worth celebrating.
