Maverick Gaming is partnering with Bally’s Corp. to open a live poker room at Tropicana. The new Vegas Strip poker room will be located adjacent to Bally’s Big Bet Poker livestream broadcast studio.

Eric Persson is an American professional poker player and the co-founder and CEO of Maverick Gaming. He helped bring the Maverick Gaming Poker Room to Tropicana.

Jeremy Weinstein, chief marketing officer for Maverick Gaming said:

“This will not be your typical run-of-the-mill poker venue, it’s a place where adrenaline meets attitude and poker dreams come alive.”

Tropicana representatives hope the new poker room will breathe fresh air into the iconic Vegas Strip casino. Arik Knowles, vice president and general manager for Tropicana Las Vegas added:

“We are very excited to be working with Eric Persson and Maverick Gaming in an effort to also raise the stakes on inclusivity and affordability, treating players of all levels like VIPs at our tables.”

There opening date for the Maverick Gaming Poker Room at Tropicana is still pending.

Lowest Rake On The Vegas Strip

The new Tropicana poker room promises the “lowest rake on the Strip” as well as two daily tournaments.

Maverick Gaming has a vision that this new poker room on the Vegas Strip will provide an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome. New poker players can be intimidated to step into a live poker room for the first time.

While all players are welcome, this should be an entry-level poker room with low limits, a low rake and numerous tournaments. Expect cash games of No Limit Hold ‘Em with both $1/3 and $2/5 limits.

The poker action isn’t exclusively for players in Las Vegas. In addition to the Maverick Gaming Poker Room inside Tropicana, there will also be a broadcast studio.

Bally’s Big Bet Poker

The Bally’s Big Bet Poker livestream and television series will broadcast from Tropicana. This show features the poker world’s biggest deep stack high rollers competing against one another. Expect to see Persson hop into action when the show kicks off in Las Vegas.

Houston Curtis, Executive Producer of Bally’s Big Bet Poker said:

“When Bally’s gave us the opportunity to expand the Bally’s Big Bet Poker brand to the Tropicana Las Vegas, we immediately thought of Eric as a tremendous asset, both on and off the felt”

The new season of Bally’s Big Bet Poker Live at the Tropicana Las Vegas will begin in June.

Oakland A’s Move Still Possible For Tropicana Land

The Oakland A’s are still contemplating a move to Las Vegas. After signing a “binding agreement” with Red Rock Resorts (Station Casinos) to buy land for a stadium, the team moved its focus back to the Vegas Strip.

If the A’s do move to Las Vegas, the proposed 30,000-seat stadium will likely be located on nine acres of land where the Tropicana currently operates. Last week the A’s took another step towards moving to Las Vegas.

Shortly after the A’s announcement, Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao said the city is once again open to doing a deal to keep the A’s in California.

The A’s are still looking for $395 million in public financing from Nevada to help build a Las Vegas baseball stadium. Nevada is currently balking at contributing the full amount of financial assistance the A’s are looking for.

Nevada’s legislative session ends June 5. Time is running out on coming to an agreement. However, Nevada could call for a special session if the sides come to an agreement after the deadline.

Soohyung Kim, chairman of Bally’s Corporation told KNTV in Las Vegas that he’s “cautiously optimistic” that a deal with the A’s will come to fruition.

Kim confidently says the likelihood of the deal with the A’s and Nevada is “far better” than 50%.
