State of Play’s TL;DR

  • More than 90 sports betting kiosks have launched in Delaware.
  • The launch expands retail wagering options in the state.

Delaware has launched self-service sports betting kiosks at 89 Sports Lottery retailers and the state’s three casinos, expanding retail wagering options with odds and bet menus provided by Caesars Sportsbook.

The rollout gives bettors an alternative to clerk-assisted wagering and adds more bet types at retail locations across the state. According to Delaware Public Media, the kiosks are now fully installed statewide after going into casinos in June and reaching the final Sports Lottery retailer earlier in July.

Delaware Lottery Director Helene Keeley said the machines are designed to give customers more flexibility while reducing the time store employees spend helping bettors place wagers.

“You can do a two-leg parlay, you can do a three-leg parlay, you can do off the board, you can place a single bet, and so it gives more freedom and flexibility to the customer for what they want to do.”

Revenue up since May, but kiosks not the only factor

The kiosks support several types of bets, including:

  • Single bets
  • Prop bets
  • Two-leg and three-leg parlays
  • Same-game parlays
  • Multisport parlays
  • Off-the-board bets
  • Live in-game betting

They also include a Bet Ahead feature that lets bettors build a wager on a website before going to a Sports Lottery retailer to complete it.

Keeley said sports betting revenue is up more than 51% since May, including activity from retailers and kiosks. She also said the World Cup played a major role in that increase, making it unclear how much of the gain came from the kiosk rollout alone.

Keeley said the machines may be especially useful for retailers whose main business is not sports betting.

“If you’re a liquor store, your main purpose is to sell liquor and not necessarily sell football parlay cards on a Sunday, and if you’re a deli, your main purpose is selling breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, whatever it might be. These kiosks actually help a customer in and out more smoothly. They have the flexibility to do it on their own.”

The launch marks a broader retail expansion for Delaware’s regulated sports betting market. With kiosks now active at all Sports Lottery retailers and casinos, bettors have a new self-service option statewide, while the Delaware Lottery and its sportsbook partner Caesars add another distribution channel for retail wagering.
