If you have ever been stuck waiting for a seat at a poker table because the house could not find enough dealers, Detroit has some news for you.
Jackpot Digital is preparing to install its Jackpot Blitz dealerless poker tables at Hollywood Casino at Greektown. While the concept sounds like something out of science fiction, the technology is officially arriving in the Motor City.
The company recently secured its commercial license from the Michigan Gaming Control Board and selected Detroit as its flagship market for the expansion.
“We are thrilled to bring Jackpot Blitz to Hollywood Casino at Greektown, one of Detroit’s premier gaming destinations,” said Jake Kalpakian, President and CEO of Jackpot Digital.
“This agreement marks an important milestone as we enter Michigan’s dynamic commercial casino market. Players at Greektown will now have access to the cutting-edge, dealerless poker experience that Jackpot Blitz ETGs deliver.”
How dealerless “smart tables” work
The concept is straightforward: The game runs without a human dealer. Imagine a poker table that resembles a 75-inch smartphone lying on its side. There are no physical cards to shuffle, no chips to count, and no dealer standing in the center.
The Jackpot Blitz is a “smart table” that automates the administrative side of the game. This results in more hands per hour and eliminates human error in pot calculations. Despite the digital interface, the physical experience remains: Players can “bend” their digital cards on the touchscreen just as they would with plastic cards.
While the mechanics are automated, the social elements of the game remain intact. Players sit around a physical table, reading opponents’ tells, bluffing, and calling. The primary difference is the increased speed of play.
24/7 Action: Solving the dealer shortage
Hollywood Casino at Greektown has been steadily upgrading its gaming floor to blend traditional casino staples with modern technology. The casino plans to have three of the state-of-the-art tables operational in the second quarter of 2026.
Because the tables run 24/7 on autopilot, the casino can offer cash games and tournaments at any hour without staffing constraints. Whether players prefer no-limit Texas Hold’em or pot-limit Omaha, the digital dealers are always ready.
Kalpakian noted the tables are designed to keep the social side of poker alive. “The Jackpot Blitz is revolutionizing casino gaming in brick-and-mortar poker,” Kalpakian said, according to a PlayMichigan news report.
“Our product allows players to play poker against one another while offering enormous economic advantages for casino operators around the world, all while enhancing the player experience.”
He added that the automated tables allow for “exotic” poker variants and side bets not typically found at traditional tables. In addition to Michigan, Jackpot Digital is currently licensed and operational in New York, Montana, California, Oregon, Mississippi, Maine, Louisiana, and Minnesota.
