Remote registration in Illinois is back.
Those looking to sign up at legal sportsbooks in Illinois no longer have to visit casinos. Instead, users can register from Illinois sports betting accounts from the comfort of their home or wherever they have a wi-fi signal.
On top of this, Illinois is also welcoming its seventh legal sportsbook, BetMGM.
With seven legal operators and the return of remote registration, March Madness betting is in a position to help Illinois break records.
BetMGM Illinois launch + bonus offer
BetMGM Sportsbook debuted on March 5, the same day mobile registration returned. The company earned market access via Par-A-Dice Casino in East Peoria. However, it remains unknown if the company will open up a retail sportsbook.
In a statement, BetMGM CEO Adam Greenblatt has this to say:
“This launch marks a significant milestone for BetMGM as we enter one of the country’s biggest sports betting markets. We look forward to working with the state of Illinois to bring its passionate sports fans a new, innovative and unique sports betting experience.”
BetMGM joins six other legal sportsbooks in Illinois, including:

- FanDuel

Is Illinois remote registration a plus?
Remote registration has proven beneficial in other states, such as Indiana, New Jersey, and New York. DraftKings CEO Jason Robins said the company was able to sign up 100,000 paid New York bettors in less than 24 hours.
Even when users had to visit physical locations to sign-up for accounts, Illinois became the fourth-largest sports betting market in the US. Without mobile registration for most of 2021, Illinois took in over $7 billion in bets, with its most profitable month being October — $840.4 million.
