BetMGM began November by announcing the opening of a new retail sportsbook in New Mexico at the Isleta Resort & Casino in Albuquerque. It represents BetMGM’s sports betting debut in the state.

Features of the BetMGM retail sportsbook in Albuquerque, New Mexico

  • Spans 4,900 square feet
  • 35 television screens
  • Two VIP sections
  • Five betting windows
  • Four betting kiosks

In a BetMGM news release, Adrianna Jiron, chief operations officer of Isleta Resort & Casino, assured that this new undertaking will deliver a worthwhile sports betting experience:

“This is an exciting moment for both Isleta Resort & Casino and those who enjoy the fun and excitement of sports betting. We believe we are ‘Where the fun begins’ when it comes to New Mexico Gaming.”

“It’s a privilege to enter New Mexico and collaborate with Isleta Resort & Casino. We’re confident sports fans will enjoy the world-class gameday experience that only BetMGM provides,” said BetMGM Chief Executive Officer Adam Greenblatt.

BetMGM’s pursuit of responsible gambling education

The sports betting and gaming entertainment operator has shown a strong commitment to promoting responsible gambling. Over time, BetMGM has introduced various tools to facilitate responsible gambling practices among their customers.

Among these resources is GameSense, a program integrated into their customer service models. GameSense educates and equips players with the tools they need to bet responsibly and make well-informed decisions.

MGM Resorts obtained licensing rights for GameSense from the British Columbia Lottery, and since its incorporation into the company’s online platforms in 2021, it has given extra credit to the operation of BetMGM.

In September, the operator conducted an in-venue promotion of GameSense at nine NFL stadiums.

BetMGM takes sports betting all around the US

BetMGM has consistently made headlines by expanding its presence in the sports betting sector across various states. Its entry into New Mexico marks its 28th market, and Isleta Resort & Casino becomes the 29th brick-and-mortar facility to operate under the BetMGM brand.

Karl Waitner, chief executive officer for Isleta Resort & Casino, said in the release:

“Isleta Resort & Casino’s goal is to constantly improve the consumer experience. Our new partnership with BetMGM makes unforgettable moments in sports even more personal, powerful, and fun.”

In New Mexico, BetMGM will exclusively offer a retail sportsbook. Online betting is currently not permitted in the state as gambling is limited to tribal casinos.

Just last month, BetMGM renewed its sports betting partnership with the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers team. In September, the company introduced mobile sports betting services in Kentucky alongside the launch of a new retail sportsbook in downtown Cincinnati.

Other states in which BetMGM operates a retail sportsbook:

  • Massachusetts
  • Nevada
  • Ohio
  • Arizona

At the moment, BetMGM is managing online sports betting in 21 states, and if New Mexico legalizes online sports betting, BetMGM will likely be one of its first providers since it would have a customer base already in the state.
