The FanDuel Sportsbook is now live in New Jersey.

Picking winners this NFL season has never been easier now that FanDuel is capable of utilizing Amazon Echo and other Alexa devices – sort of.

A new Alexa skill, FanDuel: Pick 6, asks users to make predictions about upcoming Sunday and Monday night NFL games. If the user answers all six questions correctly, they will be entered into a FanDuel tournament worth $1,000.

This is the first major integration of a sports betting operator paired with a home sharing device.

How FanDuel: Pick 6 works

Available now for Amazon’s entire lineup of Echo devices, users first ask Alexa to enable the game then ask her to “open FanDuel.” Users will then be prompted with six questions about the upcoming games.

Questions for last Monday’s matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Denver Broncos included:

  • “Will the Chiefs score in each quarter of the game? (They did.)
  • “Will Emmanuel Sanders total over 100 receiving yards? (He didn’t.)

Get all six questions right and FanDuel will provide a code via email, enabling users to enter the following weeks Alexa Pick 6 $1K Tournament.

Like all FanDuel tournaments, users will use a set amount of fake money to create a roster of NFL players and compete against other users for prizes.

Leading up to the weekend matchups, Alexa will also provide, scouting reports, weather updates, in-game updates, mini trivia games and full game recaps.

Other “Alexa, ask FanDuel for…” hidden features include:

  • Smack Talk
  • Riddle
  • Motivational speech
  • Show me to my seats

But beware, this means Alexa will have the freedom to share your email with FanDuel, which tends to market itself very aggressively doing football season.

From daily fantasy sports to sports betting

New Jersey was the first state to capitalize on the Supreme Court’s May 14 ruling that opened the door to legalized sports betting outside of Nevada.

Since then, Delaware, Mississippi and West Virginia have all joined the growing list of states with legal regulated sports betting.

Pennsylvania and Rhode Island are expected to come online later this fall.

Following FanDuel’s merger with UK sports betting power-house Paddy Power Betfair, the company has gone from a daily fantasy sports company to one that offers full blown sports betting.

In July, the company opened the FanDuel Sportsbook at Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey. Six weeks later, they became the fourth operator to launch a mobile application.

Now with access to Amazon products, FanDuel could look to expand its growing network of DFS players and sports betting enthusiast with Alexa’s new skill.
