The World Series of Poker announced its return to Las Vegas alongside Caesars Entertainment (NASDAQ: CZR) in 2025, making its run from May 26-July 16 at Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas

This marks the fourth year the longstanding poker festival will call the Las Vegas Strip home for the summer.

A complete schedule of events will be released in early 2025 and will include the series’s most popular events and several new tournaments. The $10,000 Main Event will run from July 2 to 16.

Poker’s biggest series returns home

The World Series of Poker’s history dates back to 1970 at Binion’s Horseshoe and remained there through 2004. It moved to Rio Las Vegas until 2021 before moving to Bally’s and Paris.

A year later, Bally’s rebranded to Horseshoe, completing the reunion between Horseshoe and the WSOP. Since then, the WSOP has grown to new heights, awarding more than $437 million in prizes across the 99-event schedule in 2024.

Though the full schedule won’t come until next year, the series announcement confirmed several popular events will be on the schedule. That includes the Mystery Millions (with a $1 million mystery bounty), Millionaire Maker and Seniors Championship. It added that “some new, exciting tournament formats” will accompany the mainstays.

Jack Effel, Senior Vice President of Poker Operations at Caesars Entertainment discussed the 2025 WSOP plans in a press release.

As the calendar flips to 2025, we’re looking forward to inviting the global poker community back to the iconic Las Vegas Strip for the 56th annual World Series of Poker. Building on last year’s triumphs and familiar faces winning WSOP bracelets, we are excited to see who will expand their legacy or become a new legend by passing poker’s ultimate test in the game’s most iconic arena.

WSOP 2025 to be the biggest yet?

The 2025 WSOP Main Event looks to become the third to eclipse 10,000 entrants, building on the records set in 2023 (10,043 entrants) and 2024 (10,112 entrants). Last year’s champion, Jonathan Tamayo, earned $10 million.

Though the WSOP will return to a Caesars property in 2025, it will do so under new ownership.

NSUS Group Inc., the parent company behind WSOP’s international partner, GGPoker, purchased WSOP from Caesars for $500 million in August. GGPoker is the world’s largest online poker operator and has expanded its presence at the WSOP in recent years.

Per the deal, Caesars will retain major WSOP rights for 20 years, allowing the two entities to continue growing their business relationship. This includes WSOP Circuit stops at Caesars properties and the WSOP online poker rooms in Nevada, New Jersey, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

GGPoker grew to prominence due to its player-friendly software and has set the expectation to invest in improving the player experience at the WSOP just the same. At the time of the sale, Eric Hession, President of Caesars Digital, said the company couldn’t wait “to see what NSUS has in store for growing the WSOP’s legacy in poker” and “look[ed] forward to continuing to deliver an unmatched and familiar experience to poker players going forward.”

Ty Stewart, WSOP’s Chief Executive Officer, echoed a similar sentiment in the announcement of 2025’s dates.

Each year allows us to refine further and improve the WSOP offering, and 2025 will be no exception. Expect the biggest poker events on the planet, the best action and the most intense competition as we once again welcome tens of thousands of poker enthusiasts eager to experience the magic of the WSOP.
