Summary

With its own bracelet events and a robust satellite program into live WSOP events, WSOP.com really does give players the chance to play in the World Series of Poker online. Plus, the regular tournaments and 24-7 cash game action make wsop.com the true home of online poker in Nevada all year round. While hardly state-of-the-art, the software is functional, the support is at-the-ready and the game variety is unmatched.

WSOP.com online poker history

The Nevada state legislature passed a bill in February 2013 officially making online poker legal and giving the Governor the power to enter into interstate online poker compacts.

WSOP.com went live in September 2013, making legal and regulated online poker available to Nevada residents and the nearly 40 million people who visit the state annually. From the outset, WSOP.com has used software provided by online poker giant 888 Holdings, who built and designed WSOP.com’s Nevada poker client.

WSOP.com gaming options

With so much to choose from, game selection is a factor at WSOP.com. There are Limit Hold’em, No Limit Hold’em, Stud and Omaha cash games. Stakes range from the micros to the nosebleeds and there are tables specifically designed for beginners only. The tournaments include everything from Sit & Gos to online championship events, satellited into WSOP bracelet events live in Las Vegas and online bracelet events themselves.

There are also regular freerolls and guaranteed tournaments on the site. There are knockout tournaments, turbos, super turbos, deep stacked and short-handed events. When it comes to online poker, wsop.com really has it all.

Residency requirement for WSOP.com

Players do not need to live in Nevada to play on the WSOP.com online poker site. However, they need to be at least 21 years of age and physically located inside state borders. WSOP.com uses geolocation software to track player location.

WSOP.com customer security and support

The World Series of Poker has been the most trusted name in poker for over 40 years. WSOP.com attempts to continues this legacy by instituting a number of security measures online

Personal data is protected by Secure Socket Layer technology that encrypts information during transmission. Plus, only safe and secure payment options are accepted at WSOP.com.

Withdrawals on the site require players to verify payment methods, username, password, and unique token number, reducing fraud. Additional verification documents are also required for some deposits.

In terms of support, WSOP.com maintains a forum platform to discuss issues with the software platform, promotions, and other poker related issues.

Customer support issues directly related to an account can also be handled immediately by phone or email with a 72-hour turn around time.

WSOP.com player rewards

Prior to player pooling across the three states, WSOP.com used a loyalty program called Action Club. As part of the relaunch with shared player pools, there is a new system in play. It is called the much more mundane “Poker Rewards”, but the rakeback and other benefits are, in fact, much livelier than the Action Club offered:

The new rewards tiers are as follows:

  • Player (Monthly) – 0-199 APP’s ($0-$99 in rake) = 0% rake back
  • Bronze (Monthly) – 200-749 APP’s ($100-$324 in rake) = 8% rake back
  • Silver (Monthly) – 750-1,499 APP’s ($325-$749 in rake) = 20% rake back
  • Elite (Monthly) – 1,500-19,999 APP’s ($750-$9,999 in rake) = 25% rake back
  • Champions Club (Annual) – 20,000+ APP’s ($10,000+ in rake) = 32% rake back

Latest updates at WSOP.com – August 2019

For those of you who participated in the WSOP online bracelet events, you’ll be happy to know that the nine events held this year were well attended, with a 124% increase in players. Bill Rini, who heads up online poker for WSOP.com, thinks it bodes well and there could be more events for you to participate in next year. That is if the DOJ finally gets around to clarifying its recent Wire Act decision. Otherwise NJ players could get left out in the cold, as events with shared liquidity between states would be verboten.

WSOP.com’s August Turbo Series is set to get underway from August 10th through 18th. There are 22 events over the 9-day period, with buy-ins ranging from $5 to $1,000. You’ll find Turbo Deepstack, Turbo Knockout, Turbo Monster, and Turbo High Roller among the various events. There are 2-3 events held each day, with the full schedule found here.
