FanDuel has added a new social feature to its Sportsbook app with the launch of Community Feed, an in-app hub that allows bettors to browse wagers placed by other users, share picks, and follow betting trends without leaving the platform.

The rollout comes as the 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to become the largest betting event in US sports wagering history. Industry analysts project American sportsbooks could handle between $2.8 billion and $4.3 billion in bets during the tournament, fueled by expanded market access, more matches, and favorable viewing times for U.S. audiences.

FanDuel adds social betting live feed to sportsbook app

Community Feed functions as a live stream of bets shared by FanDuel users. Bettors can filter activity by sport, event, or market to see which selections are gaining traction across the broader community.

Each shared wager includes a contextual tag designed to explain the reasoning behind the pick. Current labels include:

  • Gut Feel
  • Rooting Interest
  • Long Shot
  • Stats Driven

Users can add any shared selection directly to their bet slip with a single tap, eliminating the need to manually rebuild wagers.

Jon Sadow, FanDuel’s vice president of sportsbook product, described the feature as an extension of how sports betting already operates socially among fans and friend groups.

“Betting is an inherently social experience,” Sadow said. “It’s an activity people do with their friends and communities. We want social context and content to live throughout the bet discovery and navigation experience inside the app.”

FanDuel sees shift toward community-driven betting

According to FanDuel news, internal research shows bettors increasingly rely on peers, online communities, and social conversations for betting inspiration rather than traditional expert analysis alone.

Sadow said the new feature brings that behavior into a regulated sportsbook environment while giving users additional context around popular wagers.

Early engagement patterns also suggest many users are treating the feed as a discovery tool rather than simply copying bets “People are using the Community Feed as a window-shopping opportunity,” Sadow said. “It doesn’t necessarily need to be tailing. It can also be a curiosity or research tool.”

World Cup provides ideal showcase for Community Feed

While Community Feed is available across multiple sports, FanDuel views the World Cup as a particularly strong fit for the feature.

The 2026 tournament is the largest FIFA World Cup ever staged, expanding from 32 to 48 national teams and increasing the total number of matches from 64 to 104. The event runs from June 11 through July 19 across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

FanDuel also noted that seven additional US states now have access to FanDuel Sportsbook compared with the 2022 World Cup, significantly expanding the operator’s potential customer base. More matches are also scheduled in US-friendly time slots, creating stronger engagement opportunities for American bettors.

The app now includes a dedicated World Cup betting section within Community Feed to help users navigate tournament betting activity.

FanDuel believes the feature may be especially useful for casual soccer fans unfamiliar with the sport’s extensive betting markets or player pool.

Social engagement becomes sportsbook priority

FanDuel says Community Feed is part of a broader push to make its sportsbook platform more interactive and community-focused beyond major tentpole events like the World Cup.

The company has recently expanded its soccer-related content and betting ecosystem through new World Cup programming on FanDuel TV, additional soccer betting markets, and broader fan engagement initiatives.

Sadow said FanDuel views social engagement as an important long-term differentiator in the increasingly competitive online sportsbook market.

As millions of bettors engage with the expanded 2026 World Cup, FanDuel is betting that community interaction may become just as important as odds, promotions, and betting markets themselves.
