What are other players saying about FunzCity?

This is a tough one. FunzCity doesn’t have a native app in the Google Play or iOS stores, so the only reliable place to look for proper user reviews is Trustpilot.

Unfortunately, the Trustpilot reviews for FunzCity are largely negative. The 2.0 rating is one of the lower grades I’ve seen on Trustpilot—at least for a social casino that I would call legitimate.

So, why all the negativity? Well, first, I should note that the 2.0 average is based on only 45 reviews. That’s a very small sample size because FunzCity just doesn’t have the vast player base of well-established sites like Chumba. I would give FunzCity another year to gather additional real ratings and see if the average goes up.

That said, I won’t overlook the complaints on Trustpilot, so I did some digging to address the core issue. The vast majority of 1-star reviews are from players who tried to redeem a cash prize and saw that prize capped at $25. Via FunzCity’s customer support, I can clarify that this cap applies only to Winnings from free City Coins, i.e., from the daily bonus or wheel spins. It does not apply to coins gained through purchases and then used to play games.

Is that a great policy? It’s debatable. I never like it when a social casino glaringly tries to stop you from winning big. But it’s not as though FunzCity takes your money or limits your winnings. It just doesn’t want players to walk away forever with a big prize purely from free bonuses. I believe FunzCity remains a legit site; I just wish it would rethink this rule. Clearly, it has made a bad impression on some players.

My real experience using FunzCity Casino

I signed up for FunzCity Social Casino to test all its core functions and unique quirks. When I review a social casino, I grade it across the following categories. When you’re ready to play, click on a game to view its play limits. You can switch play zones here before spinning. FunzCity has also joined the group of fantastic social casinos that give each player a Favorites lobby. Click the heart icon next to any title to add it to your personalized page.

FunzCity presents a fantastic user experience overall. My only qualms are that sometimes the resolution of the games (particularly more old-school slots from NetGame) doesn’t match the crispness of the surrounding site. That’s almost a backhanded compliment. The site quality has outkicked the coverage of the games it hosts.

Finally, FunzCity, which launched in early 2024, is still a spring chicken. Its youth shows occasionally. For instance, there’s a big button on the home page that reads “Daily Missions Coming Soon.” When FunzCity eventually adds competitions, it’ll be competing with the likes of Crown Coins Casino, which specializes in such daily races.

Did I like the FunzCity app?

FunzCity does not have a mobile app for iOS or Android users, but this is the norm for social casinos right now, outside of a few exceptions, like High 5 Casino.

That’s not a bad deal, but I always prefer receiving a guaranteed number of sweeps tokens at sign-up. For instance, LuckyLand Slots gives you 10 SC just for signing up. Newer sites like JefeBet and LuckyBird get you started with 5 SC and 1.8 SC, respectively. I don’t want to have to get lucky just to receive a free gift at registration, so the FunzCity wheel isn’t my preference here.

How did I use my FunzCity sign-up bonus?

I give credit to FunzCity for including Fun Coin play in its rewards program. So, I set out to use the 125,000 Fun Coins from my sign-up bonus to see if I could advance in the program.

I was able to jump quickly from the Rookie Level of the VIP program to the Gamer level. I had good luck on the Power of Zorro slot, including a big win in the free spins round. This got me another free spin on the bonus wheel, which resulted in more free Fun Coins.

This site keeps a separate balance called “Winnings” when you play with City Coins and win. Your “Winnings” are redeemable for gift cards and cash prizes. This feels like an extra step, but it’s easy enough to track it all while you are on the platform.

I discovered the following prize minimums if you’re trying to swap your Winnings for prizes.

• 25 Winnings for a gift card.
• 50 Winnings for a cash prize via ACH transfer.
• 100 Winnings for a cash prize via debit card or PayPal.

Among top social casinos, these prize policies are generally favorable. Yes, the gift card minimum is higher here than the 10 SC threshold you’ll find at McLuck Casino and Jackpota Casino. But the $50 minimum for a cash prize via bank transfer is tied for best in the industry. It’s always a little curious to me that the minimum is double ($100) for debit card and PayPal redemptions, but presumably, that has to do with provider fees.

One policy that I don’t like is that you need to make a purchase at FunzCity to redeem a prize. This is not the case at most social casinos. Granted, it’s unlikely you’ll ever be able to redeem a prize at a social casino without buying coins. (You’d have to get incredibly lucky.) But necessitating the purchase for prizes could really dash the hopes of the casual player.

Here, I’ll shout out one more time the $25 cap on Winnings from free bonuses, such as the wheels and the daily login bonus. If you hit it big on bonus spins from a giveaway, for example, you won’t be able to walk away with a big prize. Otherwise, redemption rules are normal when it comes to the coins you receive with purchases.

Neither of these policies are huge roadblocks, but they are little flies in the ointment of players hoping to acquire prizes without spending money.

Did I get a cash prize?

During testing, I attempted to get a prize at FunzCity with $20 and less than an hour of gameplay. These are my standards for testing all sweeps sites.

I spent $19.98 on Fun Coins and ended up with 2,050 City Coins to start my journey (hopefully) toward the $50 cash prize minimum.

Alas, I had rough luck on the slots I picked. Luck of Tiger didn’t help me, and neither did Legacy of Kong Maxways. Your luck on those games could be totally different, but I was down to 1,500 City Coins in a snap.

From there, I decided to head to Olympus Plinko for a change of pace (and hopefully luck). Since this game’s volatility is so low (meaning smaller wins often), I recommend this game to make your City Coins last a little longer. I played at 0.25 per drop and often ended with wins right around the same number. If you’re trying to play through a large sum of City Coins and you need to convert them to Winnings with decent odds, Plinko could be a nice fit.

Finally, I went back to Power of Zorro and came up completely dry on 17 spins in a row, and that was the end of my City Coins. (This must be what it feels like to have a ‘Z’ carved in your chest.) Luck was just simply not on my side today.

Now, what does one do after a run of bad luck? I tell you what you shouldn’t do—leave an angry Trustpilot review. Up and down luck is the cost of having fun at a sweeps casino. Moreover, I know that FunzCity’s games are fair and winnable because 1) they come from regulated game studios like Betsoft and Novomatic and 2) I can see a list of the live winners on FunzCity’s site. FunzCity has several enticing reasons to keep playing after your welcome bonus is gone.

I’ll start with the daily rewards. You get these every day just logging into FunzCity Casino. The daily bonus structure at FunzCity is consistent for the first six consecutive days claimed—20 City Coins per day. But on Day 7 comes a fun changeup. You get 10 free plays on the Luck of Panda slot. I’ll note one more time, however, that your Winnings would be capped at $25 from those bonus spins. Don’t expect to hit it big from the daily bonus and walk away.

Meanwhile, the bonus wheel in the bottom left of the screen was always calling out to me. I hit the button as though to spin it, and FunzCity presented me with a button that said, “Choose Any Game.” Essentially, this is a hyper-direct way of saying, “Hey, you need to play if you want to level up and spin.” So, I went right to a slot and spun enough to get a shot at the wheel. After some luck in Fun Mode on Kong Legacy Maxways, I got some extra Fun Coins via the wheel.

When you earn those wheels spins, you’re also moving up in the FunzCity rewards program.

Now, the rewards program structure lists a certain number of Level Points (LP) for each tier. I asked customer support how exactly you accumulate Level Points, and Ronald let me know there’s no set structure. You just gain points as you play and win. As you might expect, winning spins get you more points in the program.

I got to spin a bonus wheel when I graduated from the Rookie Level to the Gamer Level and was pleased to win 400 City Coins on that wheel. Stop the presses—actual sweeps tokens from a bonus wheel! I can’t tell you how many bonus wheels I’ve spun recently that purport to offer sweeps prizes but only ever land on freeplay. This spin proved to me the wheel actually does give away sweeps prizes at FunzCity.

Finally, you can’t fully cover the benefits for regular players without covering the purchase options. As you’ll see, most of the Fun Coin packages come with free City Coins for sweeps play.

Will I keep playing?

I most certainly will. While FunzCity doesn’t give away the constant bonuses of its sister sites (Funrize and Fortune Wheelz), I found the FunzCity loyalty program to be pleasantly accessible. Some social casinos, like Stake.US Casino, make it incredibly difficult to advance. But at FunzCity, I’m not that far from the Voyager VIP level after just a few days of testing. On that tier, the wheel prizes get even more valuable.

The site could also add scratchers, bingo, or keno if it wanted to shake things up a little more.

My highest grade for FunzCity goes to its customer service. I used its live chat function multiple times during my testing, and both service agents (Ronald and Liam) were especially helpful. I give extra credit to Liam, who was willing to talk with me about the Trustpilot reviews. It showed a level of expertise and a willingness to parse out the site’s policies.

I also like that FunzCity sends you an email transcript of your chat support conversation as soon as the issue is resolved. This is helpful for a couple of reasons. First, sometimes, I ask questions about terms and conditions that I need to reference again later.
